Hi Guys,
I just wish to confirm with you, when you are playing intense FPS games like GoW, CoD2/3 and etc... did you notice there were textures flickering on ground/guns/object?
For my xbox 360, first few minutes it won't show but after 10 minutes, I see the textures are flickering sad.gif

I opened up the xbox and cleared the ori thermal paste and I found out there are bubbles around the dies plus the thermal paste seems "melted" due to excessive heat.

At the back of motherboard, I saw 3 double sided tapes on the rams chips. But those are not the so-called thermal tapes. Its usage was to protect the ram chips from breaking during motherboard installation. Why I think so? Because the pink color are removable like double sided tape!

After I had cleared the thermal paste and put on artic silver on both CPU and GPU. Also removed the double sided tapes on ram chips. It does not help much sad.gif

Anyone can advice on this overheating issue? You don't like seeing glitches while playing games right? sad.gif icon_question.gif

i got my xbox place horizon and with a 16deg aircond room to pump it cool yawn.gif

Wow, you have a big horse power aircond in your room. Playing xbox360 really consumes lot of energy.

I believe for your case, it is a bug rather than hardware problem.

Hi All,
A short update on my xbox, i opened it again to re-coat the artic silver. Below is my steps:
1. Found out the previous coating was too thick, this is no good.
2. Cleaned up the mess
3. Polished the heatsink with sandpaper
4. Re-apply the artic silver again (this time very little and smooth the surface with unused credit card)
5. Running dead rising to raise the heat on GPU
6. When it is hot, press the ram chip to ensure firm contact.

Now praying hard it can minimise the glitches smile.gif

haha very good idea!!
DIY , will the artic silver stick to the heatsink or it'll just melt off because of the constant heat?
*
The artic silver is not sticky and I don't see any melt off like what thermal paste MS used. I only see MS thermal paste got bubbles (due to boiling?) around the dies and some melt off. See my photos posted on 1st post, thermal paste concentrate more on the 10Mb die on GPU. This is scary to me man. shakehead.gif

Oh yes... one of the reason why the MS thermal paste concentrated more on 10Mb die on GPU because my xbox was standing vertical before that. whistling.gif

still have that problem?  sweat.gif

Not sure, tonight will be full Las Vegas to stress test my latest "mod" - polished heatsink + uber thin artic silver layer. Yesterday night i played 30 min of dead rising, the result is positive so far. Cannot eliminate but minimize the glitches.

Caution : Please check the X-clamp is tighly clamped your heat sink. Any loose clamp will result hardware failure. sweat.gif

Hi Guys,
Happy new year tongue.gif
As promised, I uploaded the graphic glitches (which occur on dashboard also). This pic was taken when I browse the Video Marketplace. Hopefully you can notice it.

Wat's underneath and above the 360? check the floor and ceiling wood blocks, aare they hot or not? Example, my amp cooks anything ontop of it. luckily my 360 is underneath it

I would suggest to use the chinese chess pieces to lift up the console for better ventilation.
I will upload in-game glitches soon ohmy.gif

ok, i'm alos curious to know more abt this glitch thingie, considering u have cleaned up the heat sink & paste.
if u put in in tower (vertical) configuration, touch the left side of the casing after a few hours. very hot, eh?

lifting it up while in horizontal config. can help with heat dissipation, i guess

You can see my "sample" glitch on this thread.

Hi guys,
I tried to capture the texture glitches on my xbox 360. Condemned is the game occur most (due to lighting effect?).

I captured 2 pics and 1 video (sorry for the poor resolution, but you still can see how it was and a change of angle may eliminate the glitches)

My xbox 360 was dead and rise again thanks to towel trick. Anyway, the glitches still there. I am thinking to re-apply my artic silver.
