I'm deciding between 55" LG C1 (RM6.5k) and Sony A80J (RM6.2k) for mostly watching movies and TV series.

How's things like Judder, motion and stuff?

I read here that the LG can go below RM6k, so I guess probably better get Sony right now?
*
Both can be had for around rm6.2k

C1 got no DTS sound, while the a80j has.

C1 is slightly better for playing games.

A lot of ppl say Sony has better motion handling. Personally i'd switch it off on any tv. Haha.

LG is using WebOS - on the C1, the interface is a bit slow (at least for me). Sony uses Android.

Overall both tvs performs quite similar.

Add on for you if you plan to gaming in the future:

Sony A90J only has 2x HDMI 2.1 port which one of it is eArc
LG C1 has 4x HDMI 2.1 port which one of it is eArc

Sony gaming wise kinda bad if u are Xbox gamer cause the dolby vision and VRR cannot work at the same time and you have to manually switch the HDMI enhancement in the menu.

Good info guys, really appreciated. Recently I heard the C1 and A80J may get poor quality OLED, so maybe I'll wait and see C2 and A80K.

C1 and C2 not very big difference. 55" and above only will the "EVO" OLED.
Even then the difference is not night and day.
It's better to get the C1 instead.

If I were you, I would easily pick A80J. I was surveying for tv last week at harvey norman and A80J really blew me away, while C1 just look like a normal tv to me. If you don’t do gaming like me, I believe that A80J is a better choice.

Anyone knows if I should go for LG A1 instead of C1? I am going to use the tv only for netflix and youtube, no game at all. But here is the catch : A1 is so much dimmer than C1 and that is the only thing holding me back from going for A1. However, I don’t want to spend extra money on specs that I won’t use and I am on a really tight budget that the RM1k difference would be quite a lot to me. So what do you guys think?

If you plan to use the oled in dim/dark room most of the time, A1 is ok.
Personally i think the extra brightess is worth the extra $$$. I feel the C1's brightness in HDR is just enough (may be a bit below the ideal brightness). Scout around during 7.7 sales maybe you can get one below rm4k, making the price diff over the A1 is only a few hundred bucks.

Not sure u guys can see or not, is like the top part is abit wavy, but other edge is clean. This is considered defects? Found some burn pixel also, really need to get really close to see lol.

Same as my CX a fee weeks back. I called called LG on a Friday, and they came over the following Friday and replaced the panel. As mine still has warranty till August.

Will be interesting to see yours since its on the shop warranty now and not LG. My old panel had an operating hour of 5850 hours. My timer wasn't reset though so I just have a mental note of my current panel hours haha. Hopefully it lasts for at least 3 more years....

That's because this pic is after having it for over a month. It started with very small wavy look on the top border, and dark in colour so exactly like yours laugh.gif

If you wait a month or more, may come to the same thing... Anyway good luck with your warranty request, who knows they may end up giving you a new model haha.

Senq the plusone warranty policy is like they pay u the amount u pay for the TV lol.. the TV value is 7999 only.. i think they also will ask LG to fix then they pay LG la haha.

Like tat is similar problem, but quite disappointing, 2years+ already got such issue, summore my TV hours only clock 3.5k, i think shud use my TV gao gao now. Even if count dead pixel already more than 10 altho very fine la. But the wavy thing consider is pixel, can be of thousands already lol.

Bro just wanna ask, did they check ur service menu etc those? or they just straight change panel?

For my CX panel replacement last dec was quite similar to this video. The 2 LG staff actually brought their own styrofoam block to elevate the tv/panel. No they did not access the service menu if I recall.

I wonder if no more C9 replacement panel, then u choose to use the value RM7,999 of warranty sum insurred to get a new TV let's say LG C1 55" (Example RM5,999 utilised)

What's the "new warranty" from senQ on this LG C1 55"?

1) Does the LG C1 55" gets a new 2 years warranty + 1 year SenQ plus one member?
2) What's the value covered from the 3rd year Plus One Member? Is it RM5,999 ?
3) The remaining RM2k will burn ?

Lol i dont think u get new panel under warranty they extend u again, like tat then cannot finish the warranty u keep extend. Same thing u buy phone got problem they give u refurb unit, the warranty no extend for u.

Warranty should work like that. Yeah if like tat the 2k will be burned. Not really burned, its sum insured anyway. U only paid how much premium for the 7999 coverage.
