Is it possible for strangers to find out your personal details like address, name, date of birth from your car plate number?

there is a way but what is the purpose that you are intending to find out for?

If get threatened by road bully and they say can find out where/ who you are by knowing your car number.

If the car belong the the driver, then the detail is in JPJ but you cannot go and request for it. The only way to get the info is to know the person in JPJ

there are a few ways and one of the more popular ones are available by all

the other ways are available with the help of runners of JPJ which the road bully gangsters are surely friends of

the publicly known way is indirect and it starts with putting the car no. into the PDRM website to check saman

or JPJ site also can if there is a checking facility

from there on more info will pop up and it only takes some simple social engineering chit chat to find out
the address or current registered address of the car based on the car no plate

then info like bank HP eventually handphone number also can get

this is Malaysia - everything can do - matter of how and if you know or not only

Are you sure key in car plate number in JPJ or PDRM websites will know the details? I thought both JPJ and PDRM have improved the security where you need to key in the IC number with the car plate to request for information. You can try it now and see.

I was out with an ex colleague, you knowla women drivers sometimes don't drive so well nearly cause accident but no damage done. Other driver say can find out where she work etc . So it got me thinking can someone really do that, so i decided to ask you guys here.

3 minutes later Mr A gets lots of info

all through chit chat social engineering

not one sen needed except for clever mouth and pay for phone call

2. Registered Owner
3. Registered Address
4. Owner IC No.

Anyone can do it, no need special circumstances

If you are not the registered owner, or dont have a valid reason (ie police report, reposssed car) to do so, you wont get to do a 'JPJ search'.

I know a way, that doesn't cost a cent at all or any trouble of going or contacting other people to get the details. But as other people mentioned, it need to have a valid reason for getting the details.
