Park a shot here to spread some milkyway poison. Been quite some time since the last milkyway chasing in March. Hopefully this month will be able to get something new into the gallery.

Some new milkyway shoots from recent trip to Johor. Was lucky to have a clear dark sky that night.

Interested in shooting milky way portrait.
Anyone can share some tips and guidance on how to shoot portrait?
With sharp object (persons) in the foreground, while also keeping the milky way background properly exposed.
Do you use 2 shots and layer them in photoshop? Or 1 shot with rear curtain flash?
*
Single exposure with rear-sync light.

share your setting if possible , bro

Settings are about ISO-1600, f2, 15mm, 30 seconds exposures, each took from 40~80 shots then blend in Lighten mode in PS.

Is it hard to take photo at Semenyih Dam?
From google map, it seems like a road side.
*
There is a small trail you can walk in and get near to the water and get this:

user posted imageMilkyway by Rico Lee (asdgraphy / momento.R), on Flickr

Sometimes fishers will camp there.

Alternatively at roadside here maybe able to get milkyway as well, but we opted not to because power cable and pole is just above us, may not suitable for wide angle and pointing upwards.
