Get Osram, GE etc. There's many fake Philips energy saving bulbs in the market, bought a few and barely survive few months.

Cf bulb with build in ballast usually don't last long especially with frequent on-off. If you used it at long operating hours it will be better. My mom living room using e27 bulbs, switch on once a day for 4 -5 hours. Can last for a year.

that is a good point.

i used to have the jack in bulb [rectangular shape] with external ballast. those lasted years. i should NOT have switched to built-in ballast CFC.

Xccess - will try your suggestion of GE / Osram...

i was reading on the web. Some are advocating going back to Tungsten. Much more reliable despite the heat.

The CFC so called long life span has been over sold. Especially short life for places like toilet which often on-off in a short time. Spoils the ballast.

what type of bulb you use now (E27/14 just a connector) ? Perhaps picture will be usuful...

Some type of bulbs are ease to blowed off after some time, or a good shop which selling good or better quality type will help too...

I remember want I just moved into the house, below type of light bulbs keep blowed off (5 pcs within a month) till I back fired the saleman, and end up he give me another brand as replacment. (Decorative hanging light that use 3 pcs)
