Despite the fact that the account is registered under the tenant's name. The account is still tie to the Property (ie. your House).
Although you will not be subjected to proceedings for recovery BUT in order for a fresh application of electric supply to the Property under anyone's account, TNB's finance record in respect of the Property must first be cleared. You cannot terminate the account now if there is an outstanding.
So, that means you are pretty much fucked.
However, my question is that why the electricity supply hasn't been cut off if the bill has been left outstanding since 2014 :hmmm:
