Scrape out seeds


Toss seeds and chopped-up pods into a cream whipper with VG and a touch of RO water, pump in 2 N2O cartridges


After depressurization, lotsa bubbles bringing out the flavor


VG turned yellowish. Will let it steep and shake occassionally.

No idea how long the extracts will last...some say 2 yrs in 100% VG (it's antibacterial), some say 6 months or less if water is used in the process. Will use them till my nose and tongue set off alarm bells. Extracts in alcohol should last way longer...but I don't use that, so...

I buy bottles of RO water from Giant and iodine from pharmacy. Glass jars/metal lids/silicone seals are boiled in RO water for 10min. Whole fruits/zests are dunked into iodine/RO water mix for a minute and then rinsed off with cool boiled RO water; same treatment for heat-sensitive plastic lids. Hopefully that's enough to kill off the nasties. Dry spices are used as is...YOLO!

Will blend Sabah, Indon, Madagascar and Indian vanilla extracts in the future to take advantage of their unique aromas/flavors. Currently looking for a cooperative cow and german to make bavarian cream

Ooh earl grey....my tastebuds could never get into that complex cuppa. A simpler cameron/boh will satisfy me. I recently blended 2 tea extracts...Lipton's and Darjeeling teas in 100% VG. The results of the trial batch were most gratifying.

I was thinking that the more delicate Darjeeling would be overpowered, but in the correct proportion, the extract's rose scent came thru along with a very pleasant mingling of robust pedestrian Lipton flavor with smooth and subtle yet distinct nuances of Manjushree ruby leaves. Toss in a limau kapas/kalamansi blended extract and my lemon tea ADV will never be the same again

Many moons ago as I was sweating over a thesis, I came across a snippet in Statistics Canada which said that (Canadian) govt employees who smoked were 25% more efficient and productive than non-smoking civil servants.

When I went off nic completely, me brain felt sluggish, farty and thought processes crawled like molasses dripping down the jar's side on a cold day. That slightly uncomfortable and sometimes disconcerting transition period lasted less than 3 months, and I'm back up to speed now more or less (still zero nic).

For those who ever wondered what Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans look like:



The beans have nothing to do with bourbon, a kind of whisky. They're named for the island of Bourbon (renamed Reunion island now) where they're grown. I get the scent of chocolate milk, bing cherry, a touch of prune, cinnamon and liquorice from it. Way more complex, stronger and pronounced than Sabah vanilla which is more of a very mild damp asam boi/woody/earthy/slightly tobacco-ey aroma.

No fancy N2O infusion this time...just doing it the old-fashioned way.

If you want more convenience, consider using an atomizer that has an RBA, so you can recoil and rewick yourself; it's cheaper than using OCCs in the long run.

Try limau kapas...it's more sour than lemon. If that doesn't work for u, can always make iced lime juice drink with it...very refreshing in this hot weather.

The most sour fruit I can think of is bilimbi...if u can find that, it's very worth a shot. I use it as a souring agent when making sinigang beef/saba banana stew. Mag sarap!

Tighter cotton or looser cotton has no correlation to the size of the coil.

It simply refers to the amount of resistance you feel when pulling the cotton wick through the coil.

If your cotton is too tight, it restricts the juice wicking thru the cotton, so you get burns. A looser cotton wick will allow easier and faster flow of juice, so it won't burn so easily.

A 70%VG juice is quite thick (when compared to a 50/50 juice), so the wick has to be a bit looser than your current build in order for the juice to flow fast enough to avoid burnt hits.

Just use a bit less cotton than what you would normally use; you'll have to experiment to see how much cotton suits the juice viscosity in that particular build. Also if your atomizer has juice flow control, open up the juice holes a bit more.

Times are hard, and for DIY-ers who want to save some money, here's a bit of rough math.

120ml TPA Vanillin 10%: RM75.00 without shipping.
RM75/120ml = RM0.625/ml
62.5 sen per milliliter.


15 gram bottle of vanillin crystals BP(British Pharmacopia) grade: RM1.35

Mixing by weight, that 15 gram of vanillin @10% would require 135 grams of PG. I'd prefer to use VG but it seems that vanillin can fall out of solution in VG.

135 grams of USP grade PG @ SG 1.037 would be 130.18ml by volume. Lets round it up to 131ml.
Assume 1 liter(1000 milliliters) of PG costs RM20.00 without shipping.
20.00/1000 = RM0.02/ml PG

Cost of 131ml PG = 131 x 0.02 = RM2.62

Cost of 150grams of DIY vanillin 10% = 1.35+2.62 = RM3.97

Agak-agak the volume is about 135ml.
RM3.97/135ml = RM0.0294/ml
2.94sen per milliliter.

I did not include cost of sterilizing the bottle and mixing apparatus, but that's very minimal.

Summary:
62.5sen/ml for the TPA vanillin 10% vs approx 3sen/ml for DIY vanillin 10%
