Hey there. I have sold a lot of notebook within the range of 1k and let me give you the good news first, it's totally possible. In fact, brands like Acer, HP and Asus has models that are priced below 1k. What do you use the PC for? Normal online surfing and document processing?

low budget, can not afford a decent laptop, my advice is that you can go for a tablet PC, which can accomplish many things laptop can do, such as the new Xiaomi Mi pad 2.

i recommenced the lenovo ideapad 100s. But the storage is really small at only 32gb but can be expanded using a micro sd slot. It should be fine if you only use it for web browsing and some casual word processing.

How about the Acer One 10 S1002-17Y5 ? 4 modes of usage: notebook, pad, tent, and display. if you search at 11street you would find this suitable with that budget
