I'm sure it's probably been asked, but will ask anyway as maybe the information has changed/updated.  biggrin.gif

I'm currently using Windows 10 and planning to build a new one this weekend base on skylake/1151.

Bought an 8gb usb 2.0 drive few days ago to create windows 10 installer from my upcoming rig.

I use media creation tool from microsoft website but it always fail to fully create the bootable usb installer. When I check the the storage, only a single auto=play (if I'm not mistaken) is there. There's some error listed (I can provide that when I'm home, now in office  sad.gif ).

So, what should I do ?

What is the correct way to create usb installer for windows 10 ?

Step by step, please.  blush.gif

Hi, the simplest way to create bootable to a USB drive. Use this tool -> Rufus 100% successful to install Windows 10.

https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Before that, I was tried many others tools but most of them are failed to install Windows. I was researched from some of forums and finally found a best tool "Rufus" to create bootable Windows installer. Just download an Windows 10 ISO file from the internet, then insert your USB drive. Start Rufus then open the ISO file and select your USB drive. Click on "Start" to create a bootable USB Windows installer.

I downloaded one last night from microsoft, the same way i tried to download directly to usb drive, but choose the other option. Can that be used too ? It's supposed to be used to burn to dvd if I'm not mistaken.

When you select the two options USB or create DVD options. Select the DVD option, so it will download as ISO format. ISO can both create bootable DVD and create bootable USB drive. You also can save the ISO file for future use.

I thought this only happen on my own PC but you are facing the same problem like me too?

My PC was installed with Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 and browse internet with Firefox up to date latest version.
Some of others people are facing the same problem too, we are not alone.

The solution given is download the latest version of Kaspersky then reinstall

Actually I like the v1803 dark mode the most. After updated to v1809, I was switched back to light mode because the full black color window looks so ugly. I'm still prefer the dark mode with white window.

Windows 10 from 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809 until now the latest version 1903 is stable and no problem for me.
You should reformat the whole drive to do a clean install. Please do a clean install by booting from USB, not recommend just to do a surface upgrade directly from Windows 7 without reformatting it.
Besides that, you won't able to play Forza Horizon 4 in Windows 7 too. Such a big disadvantage for Windows 7. Without Windows 10, you won't able to play XBox exclusive games, this is the main reason why I don't like Windows 7 anymore.
If you own a gaming PC at home, you just need to buy PS4. You do not need a XBox console because we can play all these xbox exclusive games in Windows 10.
It's impossible that Windows 10 is not stable and bring much trouble compare to Windows 7.
Windows 10 already updated 7 times to the version 1903. Compare to Windows 7 just Service Pack 1 only.
Windows 10 is a mature operating system, it is fast and stable, don't have compatibility issue at all. However, the Windows 7 is getting obsolete day by day. Many software such like Google Chrome are getting update to newer and newer version. They will soon abandon Windows 7 in one day later.
Don't tell me that you want to install Microsoft Office 2003 into Windows 10. Bro... Now is year 2019 already. Microsoft already released Office 2019. Please don't keep all the old software in the new Windows.
Please always look and download for the latest version in Google search, such like Kaspersky Internet Security 2019. Don't tell me that you are still using Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 in your Windows 10. doh.gif
Even WinZip is already has version 23 and WinRAR now already has version 5.71. You still using the old WinRAR 3.0? doh.gif No wonder is not stable lah...
LOL, how come a new operating system can support obsolete software? That's why I recommend you to reformat your PC to do a clean install of Windows 10.
Then download the latest version of all the software to install into the Windows 10.
Perhaps there have some misunderstanding for you during you upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 10.
After upgrade to Windows 10, you are just installing all the Windows 7 drivers into Windows 10 but actually the drivers got Windows 10 version and available to download from official websites.
So now you just blame Windows 10 is not stable because your Windows 10 was installed with Windows 7 drivers. doh.gif
Lastly, make sure you have to upgrade to SSD too if you not done yet.
