So you downloaded the update and pressed restart to update button right?

If yes then it will take some time for the black screen to go away, the system is doing some background stuffs during the black screen and it will boot into Windows after it is done.

I updated 2 PCs yesterday, the black screen stayed for 5 minutes on a PC with SSD and 30 minutes+ on a PC without SSD.

So just chill and take a coffee while waiting for the update to be done.

this was why i choose to spend some time to do clean install instead of update.

random issues like this are kind of hard to solve. they could be due to many things, which might not be relevant at first glance :/
you can try use administrative command prompt, navigate to c: and do rmdir windows.old /s or rd windows.old /s

you might also need to change the folder/file permissions to the current administrative account to make it work.

if the above failed, you can try boot the pc with w10 installer usb stick and try the same. if that also failed, boot linux live usb and use it to remove it.

oh your case was a fresh install? from your descriptions i thought it was like that during the process of doing update.

you mean to say after a clean install of build 14393.0, you got stuck when you updated it to w10 14393.10? i have done this in 2 machines, no such issues.

what's the full specs of your pc?
this is a good advice. i still keep all my previous system images just in case.

yes you can do update offline via iso.
