This is it; alternatively there is an oxygen-bleached version as well, which I prefer as there is no discernible paper taste so rinsing is optional.

Just to note Daiso has started selling cone filter paper as well. It is identical in dimensions to the defacto standard #2; currently only available in unbleached. 40 pieces for RM5.90. Crazy good ideal, IMHO.

As for the cloth filter, no real harm in trying it out. Cleaning the cloth may be challenging though.

Sanyo has released new series of coffee filter papers. 3 types of thickness specially designed to suit coffees different roasting levels. According to Sanyo, each filter has different flow rate.

Sanyo sounds new to me. Where are you able to get them from?
*
If I recall correctly, they brand it in CAFEC in Malaysia, which I believe is quite common? But I have not seen the latest "roast-level specific" version locally.

Back in Taipei, some manufacturers they import whole roll paper from Sanyo and OEM them into coffee filter papers themselves, selling them with cheaper prices. I bought 150NTD per pack which is 100 pieces and few packs will last a whole year as I am only home-brewer. tongue.gif tongue.gif

It may be true, because the paper filter has fibers that can catch the oily molecules, good or bad. When i brewed kapal api last time using cone filter vs cloth filter, the paper absorbed most of the scums otherwise present in coffee that passed through cloth filter.

Another option that im currently thinking i might want to avoid dark or espresso roast, because darker beans has more oil leaked out. It may be full bodied but has less flavors to offer. Medium roast seems ideal to me. But i can't find light roast beans. Any idea which brand offers light roast?

Most independent coffee roasters nowadays offer light roast single origin coffees. You may start with beanshipper or just pm @ymeng on this threads.

Tried Berg Wu's sauna clever dripper method.
got pretty nice coffee with nice sweetness and aftertaste.

if anyone got clever dripper, should give the method a try.

Tried using this method when I was working in Taipei. The easiest way to do it, is to have two thermo-controlled kettles and set the temperatures accordingly. So when it comes to the stage where you need a lower temp, the second kettle holds the temperature you need. I tried setting 95c for the 1st Fellow Stagg and 85 for another. Work great for certain coffees.

By the way I once talked to Berg personally, and he told me that back in Simple Kaffa, they brew Washed coffee and Natural Coffee differently. Particularly, they often avoid blooming washed coffees and just pour the water straight up. According to Berg, they want to emphasize floral notes on Washed coffee where sweetness is not necessarily the most important flavor element.

However, I visit the relocated shop this year and realized that they convert back to V60 already.

Thanks for your feedback. I finally had some time to go today. It was okay, but I do think last year's was better. More meriah, at least.

Couldn't agree more. This is my third year attending. Less crowd, less exhibitors and I can't believe I didn't spend money. sweat.gif

Exactly. I had to force myself to buy something anything as to not go back totally empty-handed, haha.

Last year's (2019) there were a lot more exhibitors. It was merrier.

How was it in 2018?
*
2018's location was at Matrade if I recalled correctly. The venue is larger and more exhibitors. Lots of roasters giving free coffee for tasting, and some bakery giving out free pastries.

Is daiso dripper is good enough for beginner like me?
*
Would strongly advise you to skip it and look for a plastic version of Hario V60.

Finally got myself a Flair and now can enjoy a properly pulled espresso at home. Sorry for the poor latte art though.

Leaning towards brewista or the timemore kettle

I just bought the timemore kettle, the 800ml version, from taobao. It works perfectly with an adapter.

Its 600ml ans 1L capacity now, with narrow or bigger gooseneck opening.

Can you show me which kind of plug it is?
*
I'm using the broader gooseneck but I would recommend the narrow tip for a more delicate pour.

It's a typical 2-pin China plug which is flat type. But I don't have it with me right now.
