I also have a Eureka Mignon; to knock out the majority of grounds I usually tip the machine backwards a half inch or so, then let it fall forward. In addition, tilting the machine forward by about 45 degrees while grinding the last bit helps a great deal....makes it closer to a Niche Zero.

For another option, you can try James Hoffman's Coffee Hack: no more static.

why was it frustrating? unsure.gif

coffee always under extracted... reason is grind always coarser than optimum...so don't taste as nice. also pre-ground gets stale very fast. rule of thumb is must be brewed within 10 minutes of grinding. stale exacerbate the extraction problem.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new grinder for espresso. Anything you guys can recommend under RM 3k? Low retention, easy to clean. Noise doesn't bother me. Small for home use. To replace my Ascaso i-Mini that I've used for 8 years, with a Vibiemme Domobar Jr Double Boiler.

I'm kinda fascinated with the Baratza Sette 270Wi cuz then I save a step weighing😁

Also looking at the Eureka Specialita.

Your input is appreciated!

Steven.

If you are willing to purchase directly from overseas, there is the Niche Zero. There is a local distributor but the markup would place it above.your budget.

Hi Low,

Who, and how much is the local distributor charging for the Niche?
Apologies I've been out of the loop for a while. I'll Google it

Thanks!

I started venturing into French Press coffee. Currently using illy coffee and Starbucks Kenya Medium Roast beans (grounded).

So far loving the experience, despite the cleaning up hassle. I make them once a day, for the morning. This entire setup is done in the office, before starting work.

Probably will start investing in a grinder and a pour-over for the house so I can use it for the weekends.

Yeah. In my search for a low retention grinder I did come across the Niche, but wasn't aware that it's available in Malaysia until Low pointed it out. I didn't want to go through Indiegogo.

So I called Dankoff about the NZ, and they have both black and white in stock. However I was told to go to their office only next week because this week they're doing stock checking, and can't sell anything.😂

Welcome to the forum! If you are doing French Press, you can explore James Hoffman's technique found here.
