i got myself breville barista express end of last yr..... and now looking to upgrade...rocket is in my radar

for new comer like me, my advise is.... if u want to start... get a used unit 1st, as you wont know if you will persist and love this "hobby" at least you wont get burnt too much when u decided to quit or upgrade one day. do not repeat my mistake  blush.gif

A friend is a area dealer.. Ask him to do a minimum order and i do marketing at terengganu area cafe on my free time.. Trying to sell 6 carton in a week.. I myself use only around 2 liter a week..
No weird smell from the milk(some milk have a weird smell for me) , more creamy.. And easier to do latte art..

you're selling 6 cartons just to get 2L?! Man, coffee lovers really go the extra miles sweat.gif

A shim eh? Nice....

Thx keng smile.gif

This is not mentioned in that article, so be aware after putting the shim. Do grind from a coarser setting without beans and slowly adjust it to finer setting while the grinder is running. Listen for a fainted brushing sound which indicates the burrs rubbing. Don't go any further than this!

Hi sifus, I am new here 😃, just started to venture into coffee , anyone using DeLonghi Delica ec685? Just wonder why the coffee doesn't feel hot 🤔
*
Common single boiler uses termostat to switch the boiler when to boil and when not to. From research, the temp difference when its cold enough to kick start the boiler until it stops boiling is roughly around 10c, usually 86-96c for example.

The key to get the hottest temp (which should be around 94c as this is usually what the manufacturer tends to aim for) is by waiting for the boiler light on your machine to go off after you have switch on the brew mode. This was how I used to 'temp surf' my Philips Saeco Poemia.

Try to read up on your machine in those owner's forum.

I've read a lot of the built in grinder not being able to grind fine enough. The trick is to add shims

To Eureka Mignon owners,

Is clumping a big issue for this grinder?

I do get clumping, but it seems dependent on the beans. Furthermore it's almost all static because tapping the portafilter or any distribution technique removes them immediately.
*
Contemplating between this and sette. Eureka for it's built quality or sette for it's clump free

You can use the WDT, works reasonably well for me with the Eureka. I really like the Eureka's build quality even though Baratza has some fantastic service people. I had a Baratza Encore previously before upgrading to the Mignon.

Thanks, I do WDT all the time. Anyway, I've decided to go for Sette. Thanks again

there's a lot of approach to it. Either learn it yourself from materials like youtube, forums or even book. If you've a friend who's in it already, can learn from them. And of course, you can always sign up for barista class to do it or work at a cafe as barista for real.

I've a friend who actually work part time as barista because of his interest but the thing is that this may differ from cafe to cafe. What I'm trying to say here is that cafes have a reputation to uphold, in their cup. If you want to work part time, most of the time they wouldn't be bothered to train you to make coffee coz you won't be working long with them anyway. If you work full time, they'll need to train you and this takes time before you get to be the guy who gets to do the actual brewing. This is what I heard from another friend who actually wanted to sign up to be barista with VCR. They have something like a ladder you need to be climb. Serve/wait for couple of months, then to pourover or then to espresso. Can't recall the exact process but you get my point.

Why do images of the Shaolin temple come to mind?

It's just coffee lah!
*
I was like wtf when I heard about it too. They must be doing well coz even with this kinda 'corporate ladder', there are still people signing up. I see it more as a 'trend' thing for youngster to be able to tell others that they work at a certain cafe.

I was saying if they were *trained* by an award-winning so&so, I'm not interested. If they themselves were award -winning, maybe a bit interesting.
*
i second this.

Oh thanks, will check it out
But seem like it is very hard to buy it in malaysia. Spec
Seem similar like waeco which I can get from lazada.
Know any malaysian shop/online that sell this kind of things?
*
i googled on that waeco, looks decent enough. As long as you can keep the whole milk carton in the fridge, it'll make your life a lot easier
