which store in kajang? do they have mignon grinder?
*
You'll have to search on the garage sales forum, he posts espresso and other home appliances for sale.
No they don't have the mignon grinder, it's a standard home appliance store, not an espresso/coffee specialty store.

the session is called cupping session

i've attended once at Pulp Bangsar. They have it every Friday last time. Need to pay some fees, but u get a voucher with equivalent value to purchase bean from them. Not sure now. U can check with them. Just google for their contact details.

Hi everyone. A noob and aspiring home barista here. Improvised a home coffee knock box using an Ikea steel planter box (RM 4.90) instead of splurging on those god forbid expensive versions. It's a good pairing with my el cheapo Morphy Richards Accents machine. biggrin.gif

Nice knockbox rclxms.gif
I do own a fancy Joe Frex Knockbox base with Drawer, but to be honest, its now more for show than actual use.
I only make 1 cup of espresso a day, so to think of washing the drawer everyday for just that single puck is quite a hassle cry.gif
Instead of using the knockbox, I now use my dustbin as a knockbox (just knock at the sides of the bin, the puck falls out) thumbup.gif
Simplicity is still the best tongue.gif

He he, thanks guys. I just could not justify spending 100+ RM on something to store used coffee pucks which I do use for my gardens too. Now I'm aiming for a good quality grinder but budget below RM 800 if possible before I think of upgrading the machine end of this year. Hopefully Santa will bring me a Gaggia Classic by then. tongue.gif

Since we're comparing cheap
I'm using a used ice cream plastic container and just stick a old chopstick through it tongue.gif
The pucks get collected each week and goes into my in law's garden

Initially that was what I was looking to get, the bucket type, but knowing my wife, she doesn't want it "open" style, and the toddlers might just play with the bucket or pucks, so went with the drawer type. Having that said, I must've only used the knockbox less than 5 times since I bought it over a year ago. --> I'm selling the drawer knockbox though, if anyone is interested whistling.gif

Best is still go straight in the bin biggrin.gif

As for the grounds, I'm not quite the green thumb type (rather the leave them on the shop shelf, they will last much longer than at my home type) and we're living in a condo with limited space, so I mainly just throw them in a bin.

A puck a day... have to speak to the Management on that, later they say I littering bangwall.gif Not sure the Nepalese gardeners know how to use the puck, later he just chuck it in the bin.
How do you put it on the soil? just taruh the whole puck there? break the puck into grinds? Is 1 puck enough? or have to gather a few? Compost? I notice the pucks start getting moldy after a few days.

I think you better understand what type of plant and soil ph. Generally, i would break them up to be used directly or compost.
