I was kinda surprised when I read it HERE today...... but at this time, the form is only for US and Canada..... so, gotta wait a while here in Aussie, even the Aussie Nintendo site does not have news of this yet...........

That is untrue...... I bought my Wii on launch day here in Australia and the strap given (console box and Wiiplay box) in it is the old thinner one.......

At least nintendo admits to these problems and readily provides solutions to its customers soon after the problem is brought to light.
many companies i know would deny the existence of a problem and possibly wait until a class-action lawsuit is brought to bear before doing anything is about it.
