ok, thanks guys

finally see the 2160 wording, and also did some settings, finally its on HDR

maybe for unker like me, 1080 n 2160 no diff

HDR compare my movie setting mode also i cant see the wow ness

I think unker eyes rosak liao hahahhaha
*
Actually 4K is not that wow effect like old time switch from 480p to 1080p but still pretty confirmed 4K is sharpen and clear.

HDR wise either you like it or dislike it, HDR never looks natural since long ago (start from photo in HDR format). It is more vibrancy and make dark area much clear and bright, in short - it is more unnatural.

afternoon guys

i watching netflix on tv using hdmi connected to pc
then i notice color sometimes a bit different

for example swimming pool water look greenish in pc but bluish in tv

no matter how i play with setting at both side
cant get exactly same alike

izzit normal?
*
It is not that easier to calibrate both same especially TV vs Monitor. TV had a lot enhancement to the image where Monitor is much actual looks on it.

I can't calibrate both same also, my TV is more towards cool (slight blueish) than monitor warm (slight yellowish) and this is what I want also, so it is very ok to me.

yesterday tested civil war, even though it doesnt state HDR, it was playing in HDR mode in settings

seriously cannot make it, dunno is it netflix HDR or samsung auto HDR-ed it

maybe HDR more suitable for games

TV can force display everything in HDR like output. At least my Panasonic TV can but this is totally wrong.

You need to check back what had you done in your TV setting.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with your TV or eyes, but the transfer copy/mastering isn't well done for the UHD.
There are a number of UHD which is not even native 4K but upscaled, though that is not to say they still don't look good but just food for thought tongue.gif
*
Recently I keep browsing 4K title and notice actually too many 4K title is upscale not native.

Hope more and more titles is in native 4K.

What i read, netflix 4k is only 15mbps bit rate.

They require 25mbps to more than cover, or course.

A true bluray 4k will be at least 60gb for 2hrs which works out to be 67mbps.

Allowing for the poorer audio, the diff is is still obvious to the eye.

To really enjoy a 4k blockbuster, gotta watch bd, bdmv or bd iso.
*

I still buy blu-ray but more digital copy welcome for me. I don't see big different actually. Probably due to different codec and compression but not means it is not good. smile.gif

I can't said it is same quality as BD but after compare and it is very close to my acceptable level and I enjoy it. The importance is enjoyment or not. smile.gif

more than enough isn't really enough if they are all older movies/series for some. put aside netflix original, netflix msia lag way behind without all the newer movies/series.

take MCU movies as example, i think the last movie showing on netflix msia is doctor strange from 2016. netflix us already showing thor ragnarok for months.

no offence, try it out just for 1 day and you might be as surprised like me. if you're using android tv/box, it's just mater of installing 1 more app and click a button to activate the vpn.
*
I know the differences of Movies catalog in Malaysia v/s US where Netflix Movies is slow in Malaysia but I don't care because I seldom watch movies from Netflix.

Movies I watch from iTunes US, UK and Malaysia because it is far better quality with up to 4K HDR compare with Netflix.

Netflix for me mainly in TV series especially those Original Netflix Series where it is same timing with US.

Some more I not only watching English series/movies, I also watch others, you can't get most Asian series/movies in US Netflix.
In short, Netflix Malaysia had more variety choices than US.

i'm like you few months ago until i turned on the vpn.
*
Hi, it is unnecessary for me.

Because I seldom watch movies from Netflix. For TV Series it is same to me. I 99% watching Netflix Original show only.

There are some I believe. I know Ghostbusters was in 4k. Also some Netflix Original movies. Not the best but it is there.

I am shock when I watch it. That Ghostbusters is an old master, quality like shit keep flickering, you can Google and notice people said where Netflix get the source.

New transfer of Ghostbuster is free of flickering and in 4K HDR now. smile.gif

Not sure if you guys are aware, but there is a request for title function on netflix website.
I had requested for Avengers movies and Dr Strange, and they were added few months later.

And I thought latest netflix app can detect VPN running in background?
*
Yup the request is working, I had request American Horror Story and it is coming as well. biggrin.gif

Interesting.. Didn't know that existed.. Gonna send it out and place in some requests.. Thanks to you? I re-watched Dr. Strange last night..  thumbup.gif  Plan to request for all prior Mission Impossibru movies.. Marathon before watching the latest.. Saves me downloading it from ehem sources..

Yes..can detect.. But it's more of their servers doing the blocking than the app. Fool their servers and you are good.
*
Yup, and I am addicted to iTunes Movies already, for streaming, the quality is SUPERB.

I already total bought 154 iTunes Movies from US, UK and Malaysia within 3 months. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Yap i already done that setting in netflix app very beginning.
Yes brother the top.and bottom.padding like u saying letterboxing... while on netflix , i tried to adjust ratio in my tv setting but its grayed and already in 16:9, i cant adjust.
Tested in astro source, i can adjust ratio in tv setting..
Probably for netflix viewing its standardised for 16:9
Ya certain title like documentaries, animal stuff which in HDR or UHD 4K playing in full ratio..
Ya only netflix own movie in the library, not everything..
I was in the impression of NETFLIX like POPCORN.
So i still need to depend on other sources for other contains..
Like GOT own by HBO, DISNEY own movies, SPORTS..
Aishhhh😳😔😩😳
*

Netflix play everything in original aspect ratio and this is the suppose way to watch it.

Netflix won't let you zoom to full 16:9 if the film is 21:6 or 4:3 as it is fixed in original aspect ratio.
Also won't stretching as it is simply awful to watch everything in wrong ratio.

Second thing, some TV brand will you know it is in HDR or not, at least my Panasonic TV do that.

If you want straight go to UHD from Netflix, 1st you need to make sure your bandwidth is more than enough, 2nd I notice Apple TV 4K Box did better, from my experience in Panasonic TV Netflix, Mi Box Netflix and also Apple TV 4K Netflix and only Apple TV 4K looks like immediate sharp and clear when movie play from Netflix. I don't own Nvidia Shield and no idea how Nvidia Shield perform yet. Others TV Box mostly don't support Netflix in 4K.

If got HDR, it will show HDR in the movie title screen. Only thing it doesn't says is 4K and HDR. Some HDR are in 1080p, like Star Trek Discovery. Some HDR are in 4k, like Highway Men. But they will just say HDR, never tell you the resolution.
*
This most TV or box can't tell as it is auto upscale 1080p to 2160p.

For Panasonic TV Netflix do can tell by pressing the i button as it will show exact resolution but I didn't use that as my Netflix in Apple TV 4K did far better.

Yes, you can check from your TV remote, same like my Sharp. What i am saying is Netflix does not tells you in their title screen. I only know after i check from TV's "info" button.
*
Yup Netflix won't tell. Not important as long it is clear and sharp and your line is capable of, then no issue and they will give you in 4K HDR if the film is 4K HDR. Not much title in 1080p HDR though.

for sure yr appletv will give better video.
becos tv players are never that good, just convenient, all in a box.
i have compared netflix "our planet" direct on tv and local playback with another player.
while the bit rates are the about same, it is obvious the one on tv is not as good as my box player.
hdr arrived at about same time as 4k, more common to see them together.
netflix and amazon does 1080p hdr, using 6-7 mbps bit rate compared to 14-15mbps for 4k hdr.
so they think it's a seller... i read that in some places, netflix charge a small premium for HD HDR (vs HD SDR) pack.
but no one else, not bluray discs makers.
chances are 4k hdr tv's will become mainstream; 1080p sdr or 4k sdr tv's will die off soon.
just like the demise of HD Ready 720p tv's from a decade ago.
unlikely 1080p HDR will survive.
*
Totally agree! Smart TV still not that smart and great yet, TV Box still is a must for better options.

Talk about that Our Planet, it waste my 4 night to complete it as I want 2160p HDR version where only at Torrent but not others place, others version at others place is either 2160p SDR or 1080p SDR and DiGi consider not support torrent, DiGi torrent speed is max 4kbps, DiGi better just block it. lol, lucky Maxis can up to 1.5mbps but on night time 1 AM to 7 AM only, others time it is 0kbps.

I do have subscribe Netflix, but I love David Attenborough documentary and I prefer to watch it offline sometimes when needed. Haha!

Actually I don't find 4K is spectacular at all, if no HDR, 4K is nothing.

"chances are 4k hdr tv's will become mainstream; 1080p sdr or 4k sdr tv's will die off soon.

1080p HDR is pass-by, it won't mainstream and forgotten very soon I believe.

perhaps the tv upscaling from 1080p already does a decent job, u don't see much diff with 4k ones?

75"... larger screens = poor resolution effectively?

*
This two reason. Haha!

If your TV is below 75", the 4K is not helping that much. It do can seen the differences but it is not that spectacular like from DVD to Blu-ray era. The impact is too little already if only 4K itself.

HDR wise is different story, it make wow impact to me especially those old film that had been released as 4K HDR.

ya, i have some of them, good stuff.

in fact, more and more are now remastered this way.
man... for video, the ride has been... betamax->vhs->vcd->ld->dvd->1080p bd->4k hdr bd...->8k 12bit hdr bd? biggrin.gif
*
Wah! Betamax! I never seen before in my life!

VCD - the most failure format, it actually is a format that get throw.
LD - very short life time, I still remember that time in my home town happen a lot of LD home entertainment shop for you to watch movie inside.

8K possible happen but not so soon I believe, also old film in analog format seems scan size limited to 8K already, any above it wonder how will it looks like, 12bit possible happen 1st, maybe will start with new format of 4K media since they is already start in this project.
