Proton owners .. for wira/satria/putra... i need help

Anyone can tell me how can i adjust the handbrake ??... i pull to the max d .. but the car will still move if its on a hill .. down slope.. check brake pads still quite a lot.

I went to a mechanic .. he told me .. cannot adjust one ..
But another fren told me, can adjust the piston out a bit ..

Wat should i do ??..

There are 2 locations to adjust the handbrake. The easy way is to tighten the slack at the handbrake itself. However, if this has been maxed out, the other way would be to do it at the brake caliper/drum at the rear. If mechanic say dunno, means he's lazy to do it or dunno how. Either way, find another mechanic.

yup .. pretty sure its still at good condition .. at least 60 ~ 70% left ...
even last time when i juz put in this new pads.. i have to pull the handbrake level quite high .. then only can achieve a total strong brake.

means its possible to adjust the brakes ... i have to find another mech that can do it la.. on the rear brake itself .. not the slack at the handbrakes .. thanks!

hmm.....i was told that there is no way to adjust handbrake position for cars with ABS. is this true?

Sabahan use to do this .. this works... park ur car d .. engage gear .. any gear will do .. then the car wont slip! ..

but during driving .. no use.... have to use clutch and fuel to be able to stand still it..

Err.. during driving can't you just step on the brakes instead of balancing on the clutch?

it's not lame or anything, park like that really hurt your alignment especially if you really turn it to the max. best way is to get it adjust by mechanic. at the moment just park your car and engage into gear. aviod steep slope. or if you don't mind, keep 2 bricks in the boot.

Not true. ABS has nothing to do with handbrake as they both operate on separate systems. One is hydraulic and the other is cable.

ok lah. imagine this.

its a nice sunday morning, and you're going up some hill. suddenly, your girlfriend says, lets stop here and have a picnic. okay dokay. you park your car, and you suddenly realize the handbrakes are not working properly. so you just rub your dashboard softly, and *chingching* a mechanic appears. and he adjusts it for you. woohoo.

now if only that worked. sadly, in such a situation, you only have that tyres thing as your final solution, so you use it, right?

the bricks thing is so..
what if in the process of taking out your bricks the car rolls back..wee.. then you become the bricks

when I pull my handbrake now, hear about 8-9 clicks for full brake power. used to be about 6 clicks only. but i heard that the best is like 3 clicks. is this the way to measure?

but firstly, i'll be asking the guy to check if my brake pads are ok or not. I remembered changing them (rear) about 6 months ago.

let's be practical man. you don't 'suddenly' decide for a sunday morning picnic. if you gonna say if, my IF is: if it was me, i'll have it done as soon as possible. it's not like a hazard light failure where you can ignore simply because you're not using it often. more to the point, it won't take long and it's not going to cost much. yes your method does work but is that the only thing you're going to do? when your car alignment ran, you're going to drive with your steering few cm off center. one side of your tyres gonna worn out faster than the other. it also causes uneven wear to the brake pads, strecthes the rocker arms fitting which holds your suspension and wheels to the car. so in the end you still gonna bring it to the mechanic only this time it costs you even more. what was a problem which originally can be fixed with a spanar turned castatrophic all because of your stupidity.

Yes, that's the way to measure but definitely not 3 clicks. Depending on the car you are driving but usually is between 6-8 clicks or as stated in the manual.

of coz i can .. balancing the clutch will hurt my clutch .. no way . but sometimes.. those stupid fella follow so damn near.. i have no choice.. if i brake.. without handbrake... i scare might fall back slighly when i try to move the car.. if they are a distance a way is okie.. but some stupid fella juz wanna come so near even its a slope.

Got my handbrake adjusted yesterday .. :-) ..
