If you have been wondering why we have had no reviews on the top graphics card now, the GeForce 8800 GTX, besides our initial in-depth article on the new GeForce 8 series , the short answer is that we have been hoarding them in our lab (our precioussss!). The long answer is today's article, where we have gathered a number of GeForce 8800 GTX cards available now and put them to the test. Specifically, overclocking and temperature tests. Since all the GeForce 8800 GTX cards are running at standard clocks, we felt that there was little utility in showing you minor and negligible differences in performance figures between them. You should be able to get all the information you need, including the relevant comparisons of the GeForce 8800 GTX against other graphics chipsets in our previous detailed article. Hence, only overclocking and temperature results will be shown in this guide.
On such a level playing field, what separates a Brand X GeForce 8800 GTX from a Brand Y quickly boils down to the bundle, the warranty and service, and probably the most important factor - price. First, we shall show you the various GeForce 8800 GTX models from different vendors and what you can expect to pay for the complete package.

So, what's so incomplete about the XFX bundle? Weird, eh? Other sites gave good reviews for the XFX 8800GTX but from Hardwarezone, it was otherwise. Gosh ..... who to believe?
MSI used to be value for money but in malaysia the price seems to be getting higher lately.............
but it's truth also few year back it was plague by bad cap problems.......... especially on mobo and graphic cards like geforce 2 and 4 mx.........
a lot of shop also selling xfx............ but spekaing truth, if u planing to get 8800GTX better wait for those like BFG or others that offered water cooling solutions........... much more worth it

MSI lo
most expensive ASUS
ASUS is expensive but it always comes with bundle games which are nice..
As always,Leadtek is always amongst the best(if not the best...),saw the MSI card at lowyat recently.....,that's when i realised how big the 8800GTX's really are.....

i always believe in asus's engineering, durability, and reliability. to me, if i can hook out more cash, like say, Rm100+ or sth, I'l go and get Asus.
Other wise, if no overclocking, then MSI will be my choice. i'm an MSI user, no problem at all. It cheap, and you're getting the same thing btw. in this case, most 8800 in the market are manufactured by Asus and re-badge by other brands.

in my opinion i wouldn't bother getting the BFG water cooled edition - simply cos i know it's gonna cost a BOMB... sure it comes with a danger den waterblock, but in the coming weeks / months there will be loads of water blocks coming out for the 8800 GTX, so why not just get the normal 8800GTXs and fix your own waterblock in future? i think it's always better 2 fully customise ur cooling system whether it's air / passive / water... best performance that way la.
as 4 myself, i went for the MSI version, as it was the cheapest n had good reviews. wanted the eVGA version but couldn't find it anywhere so i settled for the MSI. when lots of cooling parts r more available for the 8800 then i'll rip the stock fan / heatsink off my GPU then add a waterblock. jus my 2 sen

after hundreds of problems cuz by MSI boards(except the 1's labelled platinum) i won go for them anymore... Asus engineering and Gigabyte Stability are the most trustworthy... there's a rumour tat these 2 warlocks are merging to be a master warlock...
ok bro. but honestly it's easy 2 say this sucks that sucks etc etc... however sometimes it's a matter of opinion (and luck maybe?) as different ppl have different experiences wit each board and manufacturer. For some, Gigabyte (for example la, not sayin' it's bad or good) works wonders, for others, not such a gr8 performance. am not sayin ur wrong tho as i MYSELF hav had problems with MSi products in the past too...
Meh, they're basically more or less the same, all the same PCB, same cooler, etc... If there are discrepancies between the various brands in regards to overclocking then that card simply has a potentially more overclockable chip (however, the BIOS does play a role here... hm...).

so far i suppose the best 8800 GTX out there for now is the eVGA version.... my fren has JUST added a danger den waterblock 2 his 8800GTX... damn i'm jealous
Actually, when it comes to buying graphics cards; which brand matters little as they are all based on the same reference design. The differentiating factors are in:
. memory speed used: some vendors claim to use "faster" memory although usually it's just a factory overclock
. custom coolers: although for the 8800GTX these have yet to surface. Careful though, stock coolers have been known to perform better than the custom cooler.
. bundled software / hardware. Asus likes to bundle a webcam, sometimes the games included are pretty good. Generally however the freebies are crap-in-a-box.
To me however, a buying decision is based on level of support. I need to be sure that should the card develop problems I'll have no problems swapping it for a working version. This depends on the shop you bought your card from and/or the local distributor.
I support Leadtek coz price cheaper than other brands and higher performance... I'm Leadtek 7600GT user, i like his performance n design layout of its GC, cooling system noiseless....

so far no problem with my new winafast 8800gtx.not oc to da max yet but i believe can go far if i change da stock cooler.i noteiced dat winfast card cost RM100 more then galaxy 8800gtx
All are based on reference design. The overclock results here mean nothing most of the time anyway as they only used one card from each supplier and this is not enough of a sampling rate for any conclusions.
I am using Forsa brand and I can get 650/2150... and it is the cheapest as well @ 2200. It's been working fine, you can check my scores in my sig as well.
So, stop speculating which is better. You should judge it if they are manufactured differently or the support policy. I see this thread as quite meaningless.
wow.. this card are huge man.. will it fit in my Thermaltake tsunami dream? using 7300gt only nearly touch the hdd.. need to think twice b4 buying this one.. is there 8600 coming?

Hi guys, i am interested in buying a 8800GTX, and the one i am looking to buy is the MSI NX8800GTX-T2D768E-HD..Just want to ask your opinon about it,is it good buy or not? My last experience buying MSI mobo is not a good one but the price for this gc is very attractive, saw PrestigeIT selling it for RM1950 only
Somebody just mentioned yesterday that you can get the Forsa 8800 GTX for RM1699 from LYP.... Was it ATE or C-zone.... Take a look in the 8 series thread...
