Question unclear. Around where what? Around the salary itself?

The salary stated if not mistaken have few type.
1. Above expected salary
2. Lower expected salary
3. Around expected salary
4. Salary range (eg: 2500 - 3500)

I think what ts mentions is no 3. Around expected salary.
I also always wonder what actually their range for this type.

i think it's depend on that company. if that company put salary rm1000-rm2500 and hide their actual range, while your expectation is rm2000, it's also around expected salary. maybe it's company strategy to attract more people apply, while actual salary is low.

it works like this.

if the hirer put salary 2000 - 3000

and your expected salary is 2000, then you will see 'around expected salary'

if you put 1800, you will see 'above expected'

if you put 3200, you will see 'below expected'

the concept is depends on what range the hirer put (max range is 2x)

as long as your salary fall into range, then you will see 'around expected salary'

but i'm not 100% sure, I only recall using my memory.

That salary view is mostly to filter your choice when applying your job, when you got the interview that is were you negotiate the salary. IMHO that is for your own preference not the employer

don't worry too much about the salary range.
After you are shortlisted for the interview & sign the contract to start work,
you can always play safe again & ask... i'm sure the interviewer don't mind answering you
