Guys, I've been too out of touch with the latest tech, and don't have too much time to do my own research. Need two different sets of recommendations - one for my nephew, and one for myself
Set 1-For college kid
-Budget MAX 2.2k
-Word/Excel/Office suite (pretty much any laptop now can handle this aye?)
-Light Gaming - Guild Wars 2 is the most demanding he said he'll play
-He'll be commuting a lot, so the lighter the better
-Had personal bad experience with Acer, so I'd stay away from that, unless Acer has improved over the years and people can speak up for it (lol)
Set 2- Need to be able to run
AutoCAD (relatively) smoothly
PS/Illustrator
Diablo 3
- Less than 2 kg
- Good battery life
- Good screen
- Budget, thinking of not more than 3k. This might possibly change. The cheaper the better

Did a quick search around; I've looked at
Pavilion 14-ab123TX (for Set 1)
UX305, lenovo u41, (For Set 2)
Tbh, I quite like the UX305 - however is the integrated graphic cards good enough to run
ACad, PS and Illustrator though?
Oh and D3 too (Iianm, it can run D3, just not at ultra too smoothly?). TIA guys.
EDIT: Did some more googling, found out that the HD 515 can run D3 well enough. I'm thinking that if it can run D3, it should be able to run ACad as well. Do enlighten me if I'm wrong though.
Hi, hope my amateur comments can help a bit.
Set A
Yes, Guilds War 2 is kinda demanding. With your current budget, the best graphic card that you probably can get is GT930M which can run the game at low settings with 50+FPS IINM. Hence, not much choices. But feel free to check out the two laptops below. They are less than 2.2k and weigh around 2kg too.
Asus A456U-FWX023T A-Series 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT930M, W10H)
Asus A455LF-WX063T A-Series 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT930M, W10H)
Set B
Although Illustrator and PS deal with graphic work, the CPU is always more important in this case. Core M might not be very good for PS and Illustrator, the rendering time will be longer and not that smooth. However, the integrated graphics should suffice imho. The 515 can run D3 in high settings for about 30+ FPS, so no worries about that.

May I know what do you mean by a good screen? If you do not mind a TN screen that appears to be slightly bluish-tinted, i would suggest you to go for the Lenovo U41-70. 1.7kg with decent battery life (around 6 hours). The latest price I saw was 2.95k with 2 years warranty. Despite the bad aftersales service by Lenovo, this model is one of the best products by Lenovo imho. Should be good enough for all your game, graphic and Auto-CAD work. And it comes with full SSD performance too.
