That's for Malaysians to decide and evaluate. Not me or you to say who is wrong or not.
I speak through experience first hand. Ask most travel tour agencies who make trips to China, Taiwan and Japan, the same advise will be given. Always keep their local currencies at hand and never be too reliant on your Malaysian credit card.
Refute by a mere forum who most Malaysian don't even know who is its real owner is pointless.
The mere fact of what you have written kind of show you have truly not travelled around. I travel to china on a regular basis and 99% places do not accept Visa or Mastercard. Whether it is issued by malaysian or singapore banks, doesn't matter. They just do not have the facility to accept. Unionpay no problem even for those issued in malaysia. Taiwan has NO union pay and accept all forms of visa and Mastercard. I have no problem there. In Japan my malaysian credit card was used last week to buy a shinkansen ticket. No problem there. Purchased a blue label bag for missus using my malaysian issued card. No problem.I speak through experience first hand. Either you are assuming heavily based on your fictitious tour guides or you might have ventured into Zimbabwe instead. But then again Zimbabwe does accept malaysian issued credit card.
