Aesthetics are blooming nowadays. It's popularity increase in Malaysia especially after kdrama and kpop being introduce to local.

I am working in this industry ATM. I see that younger generation are no longer like 10 years ago. In the past people are very sceptical about aesthetics( not the basic facial treatment, I am referring more to the medical side: ie: filler, botox).

But I wouldn't say it is an upcoming blooming, it is already blooming.

But as far as i know government haven't really set up regulation to control aesthetics products.
Even not need go for product registration till June 2016.
So may i know what kind of market that malaysia having now?

Juvaderm filler, famous, cheaper and is more long lasting (can last up to 2 years). Cost wise, in Malaysia, cheaper than other south east asian countries except for Thailand (treatment is a lot cheaper than here)

I am sure more people are into filler and implants. The only way to tell is to read blogs about personal experience, as most of the infos are pretty confidential.

Are u planning to do some business in this line. ? brows.gif

There is a number of brands out there for fillers and botox. Botox itself is a brand name for botulinum toxin. Dysport is also another brand for botulinum toxin. Some of the popular brands for fillers in malaysia are juvaderm, parvus, restylane.

June 2016 is just a few months from now. Actually, plenty of distributing companies are rushing to get their products and machine registered now and quite a number of distributing co. Close down because of these. The law regulating products and machines in this line is going to be stricter. As far as i know, the gov have close down a few clinics and saloons that I know recently. They are also running a lot of sudden inspection on clinics, if they find any unregistered products in the clinic, the clinic will be fined and possibly face legal actions.

As for the market in kl, it is quite crowded. Just walk down a newly developed shop lots, you will realise there are at least 3 beauty saloons and plenty of gp clinics are doing aesthetic too now. Just go have a walk in plaza damas, there are more than 6 aesthetic clinics and more than 15 beauty saloons. Another example, mv, the whole row infront of starbucks are filled with beauty saloon and clinics. Not just that, beauty saloons are found apmost every corner of kl.

So, its really crowded. If you are planning to invest in beauty saloon business, think twice. Beauty salon that are going to do conventional treatment like facial, very difficult to make profit. Investing in good machines like IPL, laser is just the basic to ensure survival. (These machines are not cheap cheap ya, unless made in china.. tongue.gif , but cannot gurantee results, customer will run away) If you are a new dr looking for opportunity to specialise in this line. Think twice too. smile.gif competition is really fierce, you are not only competing with fellow drs, but also beauty saloons that are really good in persuading women.

This is just my opinion, if you think otherwise, do share your thoughts too.

Cheers,
