I want to install steel toe taps to my leather shoes to curb the wear and tear at the toe section. But what I don't want is to just stick on a piece of steel on it... I want a steel tap that sits flush with the rest of the sole. Does anyone know any cobbler or shoe repair shop in the Kl region that does this?

Tried asking this at the shoes for mean thread over at the Men's Style section, but it seems no one there knows.

All the major online shopping sites have.

As a matter of fact, u can buy the toe plate and diy urself.

Use the plate as a template and mark out the position, then sand that portion of the sole EXACTLY the thickness of the plate so it sits flush with the sole.

Now all u gotta do is screw it in.
Note the thickness of the sole and get the appropriate screws. Drill a pilot hole b4 screwing to avoid splitting the sole.
As an alternative, u can use contact adhesive but I'm sure the bond won't last long.

Are you sure? They do the kind where it sits flush with the sole? I find that hard to believe... but anyway I'd rather not go to a roadside cobbler for this.

Online sites? You mean when I purchase the shoes online? Yeah I think most of the proper shoe sites do it, but what I mean is if I already have shoes that I want to then install the toe taps. Apparently most shoe shops here don't do it. They just stick it on the sole. And while your instructions make sense, I can't risk doing it and ruining a pair of RM 1,000-RM 2,000 shoes. I'd really prefer leaving it to the pros for this. Thanks for your help though!

I wear my shoes for almost 3 years already and the part that balds the most is the middle of the sole. How does the toe gets bald anyway?

DIY is not viable for most folks. The proper way involves buying a slightly bigger size, attaching, then skimming the metal to follow the sole edge.

And the ones you get from most online shopping sites are the crescent shaped ones and not the semi circle shaped ones TS is looking for.

although not fancy ones like your pic, just normal metal.

I find that for the usual mall brand rubber soled shoes the middle part goes bald first. But for leather soles the tip wears out much faster. For me anyway.
