Tyre and weight issue. Good tyres and heavy weight are ideal in minimizing Aqua planing. Esp helps however, if you do not have traction, it's useless as well.

No ESC also can control.
Can press brake a bit for a while to slow the speed, then have to let go the brake. Dont ever press the brake until jam brake.
Cuz normally only 1 tyre on hydroplaning, the other tyre still can brake to slow down speed.
Try to steer the steering to the direction that you want to go.
Try control the car and don't let the car control you.

Should not continue braking while aquaplaning, you will lose more control if you jam your foot on the brakes.

I have hit water puddles and aquaplaned about 5 times when driving Iswara & Vios in the rain.
It causes the steering to twist away from my grip, but I just kept the steering steady forward & never touch the brakes.
No need for any panic or wildly/sudden swinging the steering left or right like in movies.
And the end result is = no drama. Continue the journey home as usual.

For experienced drivers, this is the correct answer :

Actually you can't do much. Even pro can't react within the tight window. Everything just comes in split second. When you Aqua plane on one wheel, In fraction of the second, the car direction shifts, you counter, when the wheel regains traction, it throws the car out due to momentum, your car spins. The job of the esc or esp or vsc tries to correct the car direction in according to the steering. However if there is no grip for the wheel gain traction, it is difficult for the car to correct its trajectory. You can learn more in defensive driving. Common drivers are not prepared for such incident hence they panic. By going through such school you will know what to do to minimize the hazards.

How do I avoid aquaplaning?

Firstly, be vigilent and attentive when you're driving in the wet - unseen areas of standing water can cause an unexpected surprise. If you drive into an unseen wet area, and your car does begin to aquaplane, there are a number of steps you can follow to reduce the risk of an accident:

• Gently lift off the accelerator and try to stay calm and measured in your next actions.
• This will softly slow your car's momentum and allow the tyre to regain grip in a progressive way – this will help you avoid the rubber 'biting' suddenly, which could potentially result in sending you into a skid or spin.
• Feed the steering wheel slowly and steadily and gently brush the brakes if the car continues to show no sign of returning control.

These are reactionary measures, however we maintain that the best way to avoid aquaplaning is through preparation:

• Ensure your tyres have a healthy amount more than the legal 1.6mm of tread on them – british motoring organisations tend to recommend a minimum of 2mm • Ensure the tyre pressures are checked, to see if they’re inflated correctly. If they are not, be sure to top them up or reduce them as necessary.
• Once on the move, if you see a flooded piece of road up ahead, gently decelerate to a safe speed and try to move into a safer, clearer area of the road if it is safe to do so.
• Adjust your speed to the road conditions ahead, and avoid deep floods - they can not only cause aquaplaning but serious damage to your car if navigated too quickly.

It can be easy to find yourself aquaplaning in these terrible, wet conditions - use these hints and tips to stay safe!

i have driven a few times on the NS highway with heavy rain and encountered the same many times during the journey. what i did was ease off the accelerator a little to keep about 15% of the throttle (do not suddenly ease off completely) and finely steer (2-5degrees) to find grip. those days the tyres were at about 40% thread up front and 60% on the rear.

It's a natural reaction. Not many have advance driving skill & they don't even teach you about it when in driving school. Nor do they test you for it.

What I hate is when the car in front suddenly brakes when going through a puddle of standing water. It forces me to brake too & it's dangerous on the fast lane.

I drive a Toyota Altis 2.0V with VSC.
On the highway, the fast lane, when it rains, the puddling will come form the opposite road due to some area no drain or the drain is too shallow.
I had experienced this with my Altis, it will skid, but luckily the VSC will correct the wheels, but still the steeing has to be hold into with both hands, otherwise you never know , you will change lanes to hit another vehicle. On a MYvi, haah!!, no vsc, only ABS on the front brakes!! Malaysian cars are made to kill people!!

I have a land  cruiser 4.6 can easily tapau all cars on the road, but when raining i never drive at 100km/h, you'll never know when you will hit a puddle deep enough to aquaplane one of your tyre.

Even with my heavy car, 22" rims with fking wide tyres, I also kena before, its scary and not worth driving fast in the rain.

Easiest way is just dont fking drive fast when its raining lah tiuuu

I have a land  cruiser 4.6 can easily tapau all cars on the road, but when raining i never drive at 100km/h, you'll never know when you will hit a puddle deep enough to aquaplane one of your tyre.

Even with my heavy car, 22" rims with fking wide tyres, I also kena before, its scary and not worth driving fast in the rain.

Lagi lebar tayar, lagi senang senang aquaplane lah.

all i can say padan muka. try drive slower lower the speed the lesser the spin.

when at raining try not to press the brake hard. i see so many in highway raining drive faster somemore.

some people need to suffer to learn.

*
not Malaysian car are made to kill people is the driver try to kill himself and passenger.

Get the old 20c coin, check at your tyre. If the word "SEN" is visible, then need to change already

so you drive fast and you trying to avoid incoming car masuk your lane so you end up oversteer isnt still the speed that cause you to lose control.

So either you dont take care of your car tyre properly or you driving too fast

I agree speeding is wrong move.. mind sharing ur experience.. I m preety sure sth happen or experience

for my it was cny.. I was inside the car with my 2 siblings.. I was on my way to penang.. after tanjung malim I was driving on middle lane.. moderate speed.. 80..I saw a lorry from d rear.. overtaking fast attempted on right side but cant as there are cars on d extteme right lanes.. overtaking on left .. I saw him from rear left.. I move my car slightly to right in between middle land and right I just dunno why..

the lorry hit a stationary van on d tip right .. and turned 180 degree facing the highway after hitting..

at the moment dat lorry struck the tip of the right frontal van .. its tail flip and just passing my left side.. we literally could see the rear of the lorry whilst flipping.. it was really a pure luck.. dunno why I go to right and avoided it..

dat day onwards.. I know anyting can happen in accidents esp motor vehicles.. I was given a second chance in life.. had not .. I do not know wat would happen..

I stop immediately at shell.. and pray..that is life

i drive at karak nearly every day i see so many accident till scare. i saw at least 10 drove pass me very fast during heavy rain later infront accident. The others i was stuck in jam because of the accidents.

god bless me never lose control to such extend. all i can say in rain dont drive fast and always watch infront of the car infront of you because if anything happen u will know u have space to do something.

another tip if raining the best way to slow down is to use low gear.

never follow lorry behind or side. always be infront of them.
