Last weekend, Harvey Norman at the Curve had an offer for the LG 32LC7R - RM3,199 less RM400.

Is this a good panel?

Darson Electronics, Pudu having some promotion until tomorrow:

1. Tosh 32A3000 - RM2,588
2. Sam LA32R81B - RM3,388

I guess the R81 has better specs, but is it noticeable?

Yea, too cheap make me suspicious. Is there such thing as imitation LCD? hmm.gif

And I noticed the Tosh doesn't have a PC input. Will it be a problem if I try to connect my PC, even if I have adapters? I mean will the display be affected? What type of panel does Tosh use?

Both the S and R Samsungs have a PC input though. Anybody has used either panels with their PC?

How to confirm that the R8 32" is a 10-bit panel? Is it stated in the specs?
Been offerred a really attractive price, almost same price as Tosh, so seriously considering the R8.

Any info on the new 100hz LCD TV from Sharp. Thinking of getting a 37inch soon as my projection TV of 3+ years just broke down again.

I think the nw line is called Sharp AQUOS A53 WXGA Series if i am not mistaken.

What is the difference between a 100hz LCD and a normal one?

Yea, some displays look dull. But is it possible that the settings purposely are made to look dull, so that they can push certain models?? hmm.gif

With the cost of petrol expected to go up next year, which will lead to everthing else going up, is it reasonable to expect the price of the LCDs to drop significantly next year?

Yep, we hope for cheaper prices and bigger screens. Personally, I'm looking at the Full HD Philips 42". Jusco selling at RM6,999 with 5 year warranty. Anybody seen cheaper anywhere else?

There's a shop called Legend in SS2 PJ that's selling that particular model for RM5800 if you pay by cash, RM6000 using credit card. I have the 37" version of this TV icon_rolleyes.gif

Just got a Sharp 32" PX series for my comp and initially used a VGA cable to connect. Could only get a max reso of 1024 x 768. If the signal from the comp was anything higher, a error message would appear that the tv can't accept the signal. VGA is analogue had something to do with it. Surprisingly, Bioshock worked at 1360 x 768 but this was the only one.

Then went off to buy a DVI-HDMI cable and now can get 1360 x 768 for my desktop. Not as good as my 19" monitor where I use 1600 x 1200 for desktop, meaning I had to get rid of a lot of icons to avoid a cluttered desktop.

The tv's display automatically adjusts for the signal coming in and displays the reso onscreen for a few secs. Some in-game movies were at 1080i. Games now look great coz everything is so big, have to sit back a bit now.

FYI, I'm using a Sapphire ATI 1950Pro 512MB AGP and was told at the shop when I bought the DVI-HDMI cable that my card would probably not work with the tv if I used this cable. They said that only Nvidia 8 series and ATI 2600 series above can work.Well, I took the chance and really glad that it works.

I now have some first hand experience with LCD tvs and PCs, and the comment/opinion that I can give is that it is not necessary for the LCD tv to have a PC input coz you probably won't use it, it is better to use the HDMI input, so it is recommended to get a tv with more than 1 HDMI input if you want to connect other stuff. Another comment is that it may be important what processing chip is in the tv that can accept the signal from the graphics card. The advice from the guys at the shop leads me to believe that maybe not all LCD tvs can work properly with PCs. So, it is important to test first.

I would like to hear from other owners of the Sharp PX series of their experiences. I just have less than 1 week experience. Will update as I test more programs on the comp.

I bought my LCD from Seng Heng. Their salesman is helpfull. I spend 3 hour testing the LCD before buying. They help me to test some of the LCD.

What type of tests did you run? Did you bring your own material to test? Hope you can give details for the benefit of the rest.

Just take your time reviewing the models. IMO, the price is dropping RM50-100 every week lately. rclxms.gif
