Hi all audio folks,

I am new to this forum & hope to get some of your experts advises.

Currently I m using LG Box Home Theatre speaker system to hook up my panny plasma 42' tv via "Component Cable" as it does not have HDMI output. For Astro, I am using S-Video.

My questions are:

1) Will the pic quality be enchanced if I were to buy a new DVD HDMI player to connect my Plasma tv? Some ppl say component & HDMI connection will not make much difference if I am not using Bluray disc player. It this true?

2) Will I scarifice the surround sound if the new DVD HDMI player audio signal is input into my LG all-in-one amplifier? My LG box player has internal DTS function. I am worried I will not enjoy DTS sound if external player is connected to it.

3) Why certain DVD players have DTS output function? What does it mean?

Thanks for clearing my doubts.

I guess I have to buy an optical HDMI dvdp to connect as my old LG receiver has only optical no coxial output.

My next question is by using this connection, do you think I can achieve better surround sound than using the LG receiver internal dvdp?

Are nowadays new dvdp made to be not so "sensitive" in reading dvd format, especially pirated disc? My old LG occasionally leaves disc error.

What you people think about Sony DVP-708 dvdp? I am looking for dvdp with optical out and also easily read any disc you throw at it. Any ideas?
