My unit seem dont have that problem as yours even I sit beside the unit (about 45 degress). When you unplug the unit seems it back to default setting. You even need to set back your time

i have to set back the my desire screen backlight everytime i switch it on after being on standby. at 45 degree, the colors are ok just a little deteriorate but not as good as watching at 90 degress. At 60 degree, the colors become lighter and not as good. model samsung LA37S8.

To quench the curiosity on MBF S8 37" TV promo, here's a view from me as the first hand owner :

As a HTPC Monitor :
This is so far the best use of this TV for me. Connected via DVI (graphic card) to HDMI (on TV) offers excellent and and flawless picture. For the past 3 months, I have been churning out those 720p HD movies, as well as those 1080p movies which will be nicely scale-down to give you good picture.  This is the top notch highlight to me.

As ASTRO receiver.
No can do. Astro probably publish their signal over lower than standard resolution, probably less than 576. So nothing much to say here.

As Analog TV receiver
Not that bad for TV1 --> TV9.

So there you go.  I would choose Samsung anytime over Sony, in term of LCD TV. Probably because of the price and quality.
