Even so i feel that if you pop in dvd to your pc, rip it and encode as H264 , and for audio can either do AC3 or retain the DTS track. Then put them into a MKV.

For a DVD that is about 4.8 gig or so, this sort of pc video format size would be around 1 gig or less ? This can then be stored on the pc hard drive or preferably a 1 TB NAS, then stream over popcorn to your HDTV using a 200 mbps homeplug or a direct ethernet cable if you don't mind making your house messy

the price for one PS3 is sightly more expensive than a HDMI DVD player. But dont forget u can play blu-ray on it, maybe u dont need one today, but consider the price for a HDMI DVD upscaling player which cost around rm1k, why not top up rm300 to get a true HD player?

furthermore, it can play games as well

imo, those upscaling HDMI DVD players are not practical

U can try to connect ur dvd to tv using composit out ( yellow rca ) & from tv display set back the setting.

AIYA...NEW unit only $670 la for Pioneer DV610 DVD player...I rather to buy the new one if $20 different

Picture vise...comparison for DV610 and DV410...same same la..the different is DV610 have decoder for DVD-A and SACD with multichannel output..
Disc for SACD and DVD-A...very expensive la...
Initially , I tot to buy the DV610...but i scrap my plan....even I have two SACD disc....think back...seldom listen to SACD or DVD-A.....

aiya....I use my amp just for music only (My Amp doesn't support HDMI, I choose to buy this cause I plan for my amp just for music, if pay much more for amp with upconversion, not worth, unless much more for amp with upscalling).....therefore, I connenct my HDMI directly to TV and coaxial cable to my receiver.....
