QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ May 14 2008, 01:01 AM) Oh i didnt know that too troublesome, not all people has good computer knowledge, they better buy a dvd player and everything settle so DVD player is still needed and not yet outdated, and btw not everyone can own a PS3, it's still not affordable yet and so again DVD players are still the best and affordable source to watch DVDs.. Even so i feel that if you pop in dvd to your pc, rip it and encode as H264 , and for audio can either do AC3 or retain the DTS track. Then put them into a MKV. For a DVD that is about 4.8 gig or so, this sort of pc video format size would be around 1 gig or less ? This can then be stored on the pc hard drive or preferably a 1 TB NAS, then stream over popcorn to your HDTV using a 200 mbps homeplug or a direct ethernet cable if you don't mind making your house messy it might be outdated to you but not to many.. |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ May 14 2008, 06:51 AM) the price for one PS3 is sightly more expensive than a HDMI DVD player. But dont forget u can play blu-ray on it, maybe u dont need one today, but consider the price for a HDMI DVD upscaling player which cost around rm1k, why not top up rm300 to get a true HD player? well it depends but normal DVD players are definitely cheaper alot than PS3, not to mention HDMI-DVD players ofcourse are expensive lar, and some people who are very partiqular with pq will actually prefer to go for a dedicated HDMI-DVD player instead of a PS3..furthermore, it can play games as well imo, those upscaling HDMI DVD players are not practical |

Disc for SACD and DVD-A...very expensive la... Initially , I tot to buy the DV610...but i scrap my plan....even I have two SACD disc....think back...seldom listen to SACD or DVD-A..... Save a bit and buy a good cable Future, when price drop for SACD disc or DVD-A, will consider la aiya....I use my amp just for music only (My Amp doesn't support HDMI, I choose to buy this cause I plan for my amp just for music, if pay much more for amp with upconversion, not worth, unless much more for amp with upscalling).....therefore, I connenct my HDMI directly to TV and coaxial cable to my receiver..... No problem for the coaxial though, u can still enjoy DTS/DD via coaxial..just ignore the "CD" mark..
