I think dvd player is a thing of the past.
Before anybody kills me listen to my side of the story first.
If you never buy dvd but instead, download dvd rip online and watch over popcorn hour media streamer, then why bother get a Dvd player ?
If i want to pop in disc media such as a dvd or blueray i can use my PS3.
With online downloaded media coming from the pc to the living room using Sigma Design media chips, i feel Dvd is not of use anymore.
That is my opinion.

Oh i didnt know that Even so i feel that if you pop in dvd to your pc, rip it and encode as H264 , and for audio can either do AC3 or retain the DTS track. Then put them into a MKV. For a DVD that is about 4.8 gig or so, this sort of pc video format size would be around 1 gig or less ? This can then be stored on the pc hard drive or preferably a 1 TB NAS, then stream over popcorn to your HDTV using a 200 mbps homeplug or a direct ethernet cable if you don't mind making your house messy
