I am also in the situation same as madman..deciding a 42" tv....few days ago i am still looking at plasma over lcd....aiming at the hitachi p4201a....but due to the glaring issue, have decided to change to lcd, and have to start all over again.

Yesterday star newspaper advertised carrefour is having promotion, 42" philips 42pfl7422 full HD RM5799 only after rebate. Anybody using this? It only has contrast ration of 4000:1, is this important?

For those of you that had bought a lcd or plasma, how do you judge the PQ? Based on whatever that is display on the tv, or you bring your own source?

Toshiba 42X3500E - 6.5k
Sharp 42A83M - ???

Currently looking at this two full hd 42", only have the price for toshiba but not the sharp, and i am still looking for shops that has this 2 model on this display.
Anyone can help?

Another thing, is the 100mhz thing important for watching fast action movie or football match?

finally got to compare both the sharp a63 and toshiba x3500 side by side...astro wise, sharp is very pixel-ish, and toshiba is better, although the sales man mention they are only using rgb connection with 1 astro spilt to all the tv in the showroom.

For playing BR movie, sharp screen is darker, like less contrast, and the black doesn't look like real black, while the toshiba is brighter, looks clearer and crisper, both tested with hdmi cable

err no rgb? then i cant rmb....all i rmb is the salesman was saying he is using the lowest quality astro connection, if use s-video will be much more better.
