At Jusco JB they put the best plasmas and LCDs in front of an escalator, looking directly infront of the sets, Pioneer is best, but one difference i notice when I go up the escalator other plasmas and LCDs look like Sh*t when view at extreme angle but the Pioneer still delivers with aplomb the quality goods.
*
No doubt Kuro is the best but normal plasmas from LG, Panasonic, Hitachi, Haier and even Samsung looked pretty average to me but anyway, we can't deny the fact that the market for plasma tvs are shrinking, LCD tvs are taking the lead now. It's a price versus performance thingy, not everyone can afford a good plasma that's why.

RM399 Toshiba player? The one that can upscale to 1080i? Is this the model you're referring to, the model is 780 if I'm not mistaken.

I just bought NS78 at RM450 recently since I got a Full HD LCD so my NS76 has been transferred upstairs to my HD Ready LCD. So far so good. I know it's pricier than Philips but I'm happy with the picture quality and reliability of the player so far.

The bad news will be that NS78 has been discontinued so better hurry to get one if you're interested.

The new model is NS708, around RM499 and comes with 1 free HDMI cable. I have placed my order for that, coming next week. Maybe it's already selling in KL liao, that one I dunno lah. That's the latest model from Sony.

Even they sell the blu-ray players at RM799 also I won't buy, damn slow like kura-kura, takes 60 seconds to eject when you first switch on the unit and another 50 seconds to load the movie, so you need to spend 2 mins before the movie starts playing. PS3 is better since it plays the movie instantly. Unless if Sony can come out with better blu-ray players, I ain't gonna buy one from them.

The NS708 has an improved video scaler for 1080p, the previous model, NS78H has Y/C delay and pixel cropping for upscaling to 1080p so Sony went to fix the bugs in this new model. I belum got my unit yet, still delayed but will be released soon.
