Didn't go through the entire 100+ pages, so I don't know if this has been mentioned yet.  I own an OPPO DV-981HD and it is by FAR the best non-HD player I have seen.  Not only does the player upscales standard DVD into 1080P with top-notch components, its ability to take PAL or NTSC materials, and output to PAL or NTSC displays makes it universally accepted.  I have a Denon reference DVD player customized with SDI output to an DVDO iScan VP30 for a side-by-side comparison (for those of you not familiar, they cost about RM5000 combined) and this player beats it by far.

I am still not entirely sold on Blue Ray yet because the movies looked like they were over sharpened via PhotoShop and therefore unrealistic.

^ You can get the 980H here. It retails for $169. Got a few forumers bought from there. I'm planning to get the JVC SRDVD-100U which can play DivxHD and can stream media over ur network. Shipping to MY cost a whooping $79 via EMS and $85 via DHL.
So my player will cost RM1300+, and tax is not included yet. rclxub.gif

Thanks for the link, shumaky. I was hoping there might be a local vendor/reseller so I can just pay and carry one home.

The nearest distributor is in S'pore and they are selling it for S$370.
The newer Oppo, 983 will be in the market sometime nt month and should be ard S$550.

I'm using Oppo 980 for my HT set-up and very happy with it.
The upscaling is much better than PS3.

Perhaps you should make the offer in the garage sales forum. Out of curiosity, which Philips DVDP are you selling?

They're not available locally, you need to order them direct from US, our local Toshiba E1 is still selling near RM2K. sweat.gif

I was afraid of this, cry.gif unless someone got lobang. brows.gif

The player definitely makes a world of difference. Tested the pioneer kuro with pioneer bd player and the dv-400. The output quality is soooooooo good on the bd player. After testing a SD disc on the bd then testing out the dv-400, the quality drop is just staggering. shocking.gif
Try it out at HN mid valley. The bd player retails at 6999!!! gila price.

The BD player is way overpriced, it's just a Profile 1.0 model, RM6,999 doesn't justify the price at all. Better wait for more choices in the future but no doubt, the Pioneer BD player has the wow factor in the design.

At Jusco JB they put the best plasmas and LCDs in front of an escalator, looking directly infront of the sets, Pioneer is best, but one difference i notice when I go up the escalator other plasmas and LCDs look like Sh*t when view at extreme angle but the Pioneer still delivers with aplomb the quality goods.
