Hi all,

As per title, want to ask, izzit ok to use different tyre profile for front and rear? I know we see this alot on supercar and superstreets car, but for daily drive car does it affect anything?

Here the purpose size, front: 205 40 17 rear: 205 45 17, and ofcoz will using same tyre thread

Appreciate your inputs.

The question I put to you is, if your car came with same size tires for front and rear, what is the reason you are looking to change this setup? Factory setup was such for a reason. It's not for show.

Thats what im concern, i need the input before put on. Currently wearing 205 40 17 on my 9jj rims, my car is persona and im stancers, i know stancers will looks wrong and unbrain by some drivers, but respect the culture.

So im here not to play blame game, lets put it informative as much.

The car is front rear drive, as im concern im using this setup for daily drive. So the inputs from perfomance mania are needed for my knowledge

As you've agreed, performance and stance can't shake hands. Thus, forget performance.

I respect the culture, but only if your car is a show car or a weekend car, just cruising on highways or empty roads like Putrajaya.

If your car is a daily driven car, I totally have no respect for stance culture. Why? For starters, you guys are putting yourself at risk by driving on public roads with such setup. And when you put yourself at risk, you put others at risk as well.

1. Stance cars slows down so much at speed bumps, they become a nuisance to the traffic behind. Same goes for steep ramps.
2. Incorrect tire size for the rim width. It stretches your tire wall, which leaves little room for additional flexing. And that is dangerous.
3. I pity your passengers when you ferry them. Your stance look requires stiffen springs/suspension, with bump stops so that it doesn't bottom out. And on cars such as Persona or any lightweight cars, that makes your car jump up and down on our local roads, if you know the quality of our roads. Thus, your passengers would be nauseous after a long arduous journey.

Lets put it this way, which is what you want to hear. Different tire sizes for front and rear may not adversely affect the drive-ability of your ride, and it should pose no issue if you don't speed (typically, stancers don't speed but I've been proven wrong many times). As long as it can clear your fenders, slight different in size should be no problem. But don't quote me as I personally do not recommend it.

Oftentimes, there is no reason. Just GAYA, MUTU, KEUNGGULAN.

We all know that, even TS. The car is all about show, but no go.

Well IMHO they should not be road legal in the first place, especially on highways!
Well, the rule of thumb is, your tires aren't suppose to protrude from your fenders. But you know, this is Malaysia Boleh land ... JPJ or SPAD don't really strictly enforce this.

if prefer same profile but rear with wider thread

example

front  185/55/R16
rear 205/55/R16

for me don't mess up the odometer reading and your stock rim offset.

Your rear tire size increases the overall diameter from 24 inch to 24.9 inch. This will create a raised rear looking profile on the car. If you want it closer to stock, rear go for 205/50/16, in which the overall diameter of the rear tires would be 24.1 inch.

This is just for the sake of tire size discussion. My stand on stance cars for daily driven cars is still the same.
