Hi all,
As per title, want to ask, izzit ok to use different tyre profile for front and rear? I know we see this alot on supercar and superstreets car, but for daily drive car does it affect anything?
Here the purpose size, front: 205 40 17 rear: 205 45 17, and ofcoz will using same tyre thread
Appreciate your inputs.
Why do you want to use such different profile only? What is your car? Usually those with different/staggered tire sizes are RWD or AWD cars (but with more power to the rear wheels) so they use wider rear tires to help maintain more stable handling and control the power/traction to the road. For FWD, it's not recommended to use such staggered setup coz it will make the handling even more understeer. Your setup is odd and makes not much purpose as the tire widths are still about the same only the front is thinner by 1 cm or total diameter is actually smaller by 2 cm at the front. If you can use 205/45 in the front as well then better to do so.As per title, want to ask, izzit ok to use different tyre profile for front and rear? I'm actually using a staggered setup with front 225/50/17 on 7.5jj and rear 245/45/17 on 8.5jj. Note that the total diameter between front & rear are almost the same with only about 4 mm difference, not as much as yours. Does it affect anything? Yes, my car is a RWD and it makes my high speed handling/cornering more stable, more predictable, and easier to control over the limit, especially since my car has no TRC/VSC.
