i think it is like a chicken and egg problem. piracy are ramping in asia because of high prices of games. if nintendo, sony and microsoft are able to manufacture games for asia region. probably it could lower game prices to as low as rm50-70 this would definitely reduce the demand for pirated games but for now we still live with pirated stuff because it is not affordable beyond everyone. original games cost in malaysia approximately rm210 and above while ppl in usa they purchasing usd50.

yup, the business model of videogames suck. sure all those companies love to come in to asia & other developing countries and develope a healthy white market for videogames. but if they subsidise game prices & set region locks to sell much cheaper asian versions, sure the consumers of the developed markets will compare & cry foul.

i guess subscription-based MMOG PC games are the future for asia and other developing countries.

hey thats a good idea too! hahaha but its like a chicken and egg thing. someone has to start. its either we start buying originals now then software makers are willing to create market in asia or they start offering cheap games and we start supporting them!

its more than just chicken & eggs. its numbers - pure & simple. will an original market be self-sustianable in a small developing economy? i always wondered if the original gaming market in singapore/HK/TWN amounts to any meaningful revenue to justify localised asian versions. keep in mind these 3 city-states have developed consumer market.

when even uncle ho and his operators have to bulk-export as the local consumer market is insufficient for them, what does it says about us consumers? tongue.gif tongue.gif

no need to sell ori printed disc. give the disc/demo/downloads for free. charge pay per play via online subscription or points. me thinks we'll all be playing korean & china games legitimately for years to come.
