guys, i want some confirmation. the latest dragon quest on ps 2 is 8 rite? so, does that mean that dragon quest 9 on nds is the real sequel? wah, never expect this kind of transition.

yup...DQIX is the "real" sequel to DQVIII..not exactly a sequel cos every episode is different...but its the real deal...unlike DQ Rocket Slime or DQ Jokers......we actually didnt notice DQ has been released by Nintendo lately.... tongue.gif

i heard it will release in mid 2007 bcos doing nds games is easier and faster for developer and translation to english version should be faster also...

ya, yhats right, nintendo's compressing technology allow the catridge to store 10x more that the original capacity, thats mean 1Gbits x 10 = 10Gbits !!!!!!

Doing some shopping at Akihabara just now.
Stumble across crowds of ppl next to a shopping complex. All with their DS. easily 30-40 people.
Upon closer inspection they are all playing DQ9. Anyone can join in the multiplayer.
The crowd are very diverse. From young kids to working men with their coats and briefcase.

Try multi-player...
you sure will suprise how good the multiplayer is....
the red and blue chest...
you can join battle of another player by just walk into it...
walk around the host's world without the host permission...
in and out of the shop... exploring dungeon...
one special skill can summon the another player at you side to aid your battle.... cool!!
Highly recommend multiplayer... but i dont think it got WFC multiplayer.. T.T

lol the game is so freaking hard, barely survived most of the boss battles. Just switched job for me main character, which means I have to grind from lv1 again. >.>

haha,yeah i felt like this when i just reach the changing job event,but after u progress further u will love these systems,right now i already addicted into grinding especially when u got the grotto maps and get access to ships

Still, DQIX is soooooo much fun, playing it again really shouldn't be too much of a big deal.

The final dungeon awaits me but I'm too engrossed committing liquid metal slime xenocide in The Bowhole... I can't imagine how better it will be when I finally get to the post-game content and unlock Slime Hill thumbup.gif

it's never too late~! even the DQVC has new stuff still coming in. We got a new character guest in the inn (from online) just last week and there's still more themed weeks they haven't done yet (christmas for example).

i'm always up for tagmode with newbs as well tongue.gif Anyone really! I still haven't found anyone willing to do tagmode with me sad.gif

The game hasn't left my DS ever since I bought it months ago. It's been fused permanently to my DS. I think I have to uncurse my DS to even eject the gamecard.

So yeah... DQIX... quite an interesting game , I must say!

Right! Back on topic then. 3 days on and I'm still in the Bowhole committing massive LMS xenocide. It's so awesome.

Also awesome, today's DQVC offerings had slime metal helm, mail and shield. Habis my bank account. (I was trying to get 500k accolade)

Looks like it's time to do the Gold Mail loop again... if I can get out of the Bowhole that is...

The game is too easy. Shouldn't take too long for you to get all fyggs, especially when you know what to do already!

Well I finally got all the skill points I wanted where I wanted them, and I decided to march into the last dungeon... and totally used the last boss to wipe my behind.

I love this game.

Also, now I'm sad cos my stats screen seems so empty...

EDIT: lolwut, now the game wants me to cosplay as a maid sweat.gif

Yeah, but "downloadable" is a bit of a misclaim. It's more like, you connect to the servers and they unlock the quest that's already on your game.

You mean the final boss? Depends on how you play. If you put time into levelling your characters and getting as many skills as possible for them from different classes, the final boss becomes supremely easy.

If not, I heard the final boss is quite a challenge...

easy if you have high lvl character, i beat the boss with my main class lvl 47 + all other class on lvl 30, but if you only lvled 1 class example warrior class to lvl 47 all other class still on lvl 1 that would be a hard battle even for normal bosses sweat.gif

Yeah, I think that's the consensus among DQ fans.

But the postgame content is among the toughest in the series (I am talking of the Legacy Boss Maps... my level 60+ team got wiped out in one round, and that's before you level the bosses up)

I love doing the story quests. I've just completed Stella's background story quest chain (I think) and now I'm filled with more questions than answers hmm.gif

1) Uber falcon sword for Toad, my main character (master thief, master ministrel, master luminary, master ranger)
2) Uber falcon sword for Tricia (master martial artist, master warrior, master gladiator, master ranger)
3) Great Bow for Suzy (master mage, master paladin, master ranger, master armamentalist)
4) Metal Slime Spear for Sarah (master priest, master sage, master paladin, master martial artist)

and yeah, ufs + falcon slash is awesome. add oomph and the right elemental fource power to it and becomes unstoppable. add 100 tension and you are a GOD

but really, nothing beats Disco Stew! NOTHING

imho DQIX's starting wasn't all that long-winded.. well compared to other jrpgs anyway. If anything DQIX is so much more lean in terms of story content.

Yeah, 3DS has it built-in so it's no longer a game-specific feature. Pokemon Black and White has a similar tag thing too and that seems better than what DQIX offers since you can actually challenge the random people you meet to a pokemon battle.

Still, DQIX's tagmode is cool enough when you start getting awesome maps. Incidentally I just got the legendary Masayuki map last night and it is as awesome as people say it is.

A whole floor full --FULL!!!-- of Metal King Slimes. Holy crap. The blue chests in the grotto are quite good too. Will attempt to beat it so I can share it with other people too.

Even Uber Falcon Sword is too slow now. You need to depend on Thunder Thrust or Hatchet Man with MKS and someone with high agility to cast Accelaratle.

Everything else depends on your relationship with lady luck tongue.gif

I like the Coffinwell quest... the story there is quite good and the resolution is not standard jrpg fare.

WELL! It looks like I've finished all the post-game story quests available so far, which leaves me with only the ridiculously annoying "Get me a fricking rare item in the deepest level of so and so grotto" quests and the "Do a uselessly weak move to kill a rare and powerful monster and do it 500 million times" quests to complete (ugh).

*sigh* I hope Nintendo offers a good DLC story quest soon cos the way the story is going right now is quite intriguing. I wanna know more!

Yeah! Totally worth the RM125 I paid for it. And I'm still not done with the game since DLC quests will keep updating until June 2011 if I'm not mistaken.

If only modern Final Fantasy could be this addictive. Square Enix, you break my heart like you break an elemental crystal in FFV.

Yay! I got another Legacy Boss Map and this time I kicked that boss up its backside.

Added on December 8, 2010, 4:09 pmHuh. I only have 8 more DLC quests to do and the rest are master weapon quests. The DLC quests I can't complete immediately because they require me to beat certain monsters and bosses I haven't discovered yet in grottoes. And the master weapon quests are just annoying.

Oh and another quest require me to do it on my birthday which is in April. Man, I don't want to change my DS's clock jsut to do this quest cos it feels like cheating...

yes you dont realy have to use mage to finish the games btw I beat the final boss for second time with only a sage + priest (yes 2 char only) but you still need to lvl all classes for the skill point though

Yeah, a mage isn't required. What you need is a priest or a sage for healing and that's all. If you spend enough time and patience and have plan well, you could even solo the whole game.

oh you got your first treasure map already ya? the monsters are not that strong but the boss is very powerful. be very careful and good luck

i'm guessing you just left Dourbridge? if you want to level up, I suggest you set aside that treasure map, cos it isn't good for levelling, and wait until you get to the Bad Cave which isn't that far from where I think you are. You might need to do the quest at Bloomingdale first.

there's a monster in the bad Cave that will help your levelling a lot. wink.gif

You mean the boss in the first treasure map? Nemean right? Yeah, you need your guys to be around lvl 40 to take on him. He's actually the easiest of the grotto bosses. The rest, when you find them, are even deadlier.

So every day to go to work I take the KTM komuter and I've NEVER seen anyone play a DS. If anyone's playing anything it's usually a PSP or iPhone.

So this morning, I finally saw someone playing a DS and as I approach him, he sees me and slams his DS shut like he's been watching porn. (Love Plus maybe? tongue.gif)

Anyways, I ask him if he has DQIX.

Dude shakes his head like and makes this face like I just asked to rape his mother.

The things I suffer for TAG MODE! biggrin.gif

I just played some multiplayer last night. Very nice. My friend was hosting and he hasn't completed the main quest yet. I tagged along as a priest and got to see some main quest story events from another perspective. Quite interesting.

yeah! sage is more a supporting role. it's very useful though if your main is a sage while playing multiplayer in somebody else's game. It's fun to play the supporting role.

Remember in the ending sequence, you see something falling into the sea? It's related to that. Go find Jona in Porth Llaffan to start the quest. You won't regret it!

yeah, streetpass is basically DQIX and nintendog's tag mode but enhanced.

Hi,

I'm got my boat now and thought of completing some of the side quest, now I'm stuck (well it's not exactly stuck but it's bothering me) because I can't any find fresh water in North Waterfall in Slurry Quay.

I walked along the river and there are some stone that can get me nearer to the waterfall but I don't see any action to get fresh water... am I missing something here?

the fresh water spawn area is under the waterfall near slury quay there..if u cant find any u just have to wait for some time b4 the item is there again lorr

The spawn points are time based. Go away from the game and turn it off for a few hours and they'll be back when you switch it on again.

Just beating this game after 35 hours of game play without any grotto hunting. Post game content doesn't feel so polished compared to DQVIII though. Anyone still playing this game?

I prefer the main story though. Now ditching it and playing DQ VI smile.gif I like the double realm concept, kinda like Chrono Cross.
