QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 17 2016, 02:15 PM) the amount looks correct. i've check enrich redemption on OW flight (JAL and CX) from KUL to YVR requires 144k miles return. The difference is the tax. Off topic abit, can you book the flight on JAL on Asia Miles? In office now hence don't want to launch the asia miles website.. later colleague think i'm too free can fly here fly there.. KUL to YVR requires transit either in NRT (For JAL) or HKG (For CX). Alternatively, why not just keep ur miles in Enrich cos from time to time Enrich will have extra 10% bonus miles offer with banks. Asia miles doesn't have that. raist86, Moving the discussion here.... I tried the online thingy on Asia Milles. Cannot redeem JAL directly. Once I keyed in the destination, this came out

QUOTE(raist86 @ Mar 17 2016, 04:07 PM) yea.. that's one problem with JAL redemption from CX or EM. At least with AM, you can select to book on other airlines. personally, i still keep my miles in EM due to extra 10% redemption. with OW redemption at par rate with other airlines, the extra 10% does help. But OW can't do directly online right? Need to fill form? Means can check the tax surcharges first?

I would like to redeem my maybank points to book a flight to the UK next February. I have tried putting it through Enrich and the surcharges seem really high. Can anyone advise on any 'cheaper' option to get to the UK? Would Kris Flyer or Asia Miles work out cheaper?
Would really appreciare any thoughts you may have

QUOTE(raist86 @ May 17 2017, 12:03 PM) Krisflyer now does not have surcharge for redemption. however, do check availability. asiamiles DO start to charge fuel surcharge for some redemptions AFAIK. I do know that UK airport is crazy expensive to fly out from, hence the high surcharge you see on return flights. what you can do is, do a dummy search on this two award site (register a member) and compare both points and fees before doing the points transfer. Depends on what u like. CX is good for doing a stopover in hong kong, spend a few days there shopping and eating. Same can be done with SQ. If this is your first J class redemption, i highly recommend CX so that can enjoy a few days in hong kong, and try out the Pier in hkg airport. Cool! Thanks

Ok, I have tried to set up dummy flights on Asia Miles. An interesting point to note is that the redemption points on J class to both LHR and YVR are exactly the same despite the rather large difference in distance. Also, the surchages for YVR are way cheaper than LHR.
If that is the case, I might as well use my points for my YVR trip and just pay for my LHR trip right?
