for me, i don't mind the slight point increase cos i'm stuck with KF miles anyway. Having not to pay crazy surcharges is more important.

SQ revision of the points chart looks promising..
my planned trip from KUL - SIN - MUC - MXP - SIN - KUL now clocks in at 170k per pax + RM 217 taxes... Previously was about 140+k miles + RM 1800 taxes per person...

At least this is a reasonable offer compared to MH.

*A redemption shows 160,000 on roundtrip, 80k per way... would be interesting to try KUL - SIN - MUC - VIE - TPE - KUL via Singapore Air and Eva Air. Just short of couple K miles to go, will update if anything interesting pops up.

Thanks for sharing. This is consider as Star Alliance Round The World Award?
*
It's not *A RTW. Just normal star alliance round trip redemption. Single way is divide by 2.

KUL - SIN - MUC as one segment via SQ.
VIE - TPE - KUL another segment via EVA Air.

May I know how to key in your planned trip? Do you use multi city option then key in Kul - Sin, then Sin - muc, then muc - vie etc? So this trip is like a big loop? No need for any open jaws? Thanks.
*
I search in website by KUL straight to MUC as SQ flies between the two route. On a lucky day, you are able to book the saver ticket (without waitlist). It'll show up as a transit in SIN.

For VIE - TPE - KUL, i get this route via EVA Air website. TPE is a transit point.

QUOTE(HappyGuy @ Mar 23 2017, 02:15 PM)
Understand. Thats very good idea. Thanks.
Can use KF miles to book both routes or have to use different FF miles?
*
As per above, to book the route under one PNR, need to call SQ call center to piece together the itinerary.

QUOTE(minthiam @ Mar 23 2017, 02:41 PM)
Wow, one hell of a lucky guy!
If you travel a lot then 500k AM is definitely a viable option. Also, 500k AM could easily get you 3 return business class seats KL to New York.
*
QUOTE(dctravels @ Mar 23 2017, 02:56 PM)
500K Asia Miles can get you 2 First Class tickets to JFK with 60k miles to spare.

Mind sharing what kind of investment and which bank?  biggrin.gif
*
Holy SHEETT!!! that's alot of miles. Mind to share what kind of investment instruments and min investment? the 25k is in RM or other currency. OMAAT values AM at USD 0.012 / mile which gives you USD 6000 valuation. For 500k, you can fly 2 return trip to JFK on first class with a balance of 60k leftover to get you from KUL to HKG. biggrin.gif. For me, that's worth more than the RM 25k..

Some people prefer cash over experience... I'm all for the experience

USD 6,000 is about the same as the RM25K shopping vouchers they are giving out? I don't quite get this: for the number of miles valued at USD6,000 gets 2x return first class tickets to JFK? Am I missing something here?
*
6000 usd is based on points to dollar valuation. not flight price. If compare to flight price, it'll be way much higher. Problem with that is hard to compare as it's something that not normally spent on. For example, a pair of return F ticket from KUL to JFK comes up to about RM 205k... but i wouldn't say i've saved RM 205k as it's not something i'd have purchased normally.

lol.. is that price even real... 100k for a first class ticket??? CX gone off the rails..

It depends solely on what you're looking for. 25k cash voucher wouldn't even get you 2 J ticket to US... while the miles would several times over...

direct redemption via website is alright. quite straightforward. it's only when u need to redeem OW that need to call the center.

AM website IIRC is able to redeem CX, QR and BA flight. Not sure about MH. Flights that you can redeem via website is the easiest to do. just click, pay and issue. However, you cannot mix CX and QR or BA on a standard award redemption. From my experience, flights on carrier other than CX always shows up as not available or waitlist.

You only need to call the center if you're doing exotic routing or involve a mix of one world carrier. Same if you're redeeming a mix of flight class on a single PNR booking (single ticket booking).

hmm. i think that's because you used the flight finder link in Asia miles.

try this
https://www.asiamiles.com/amwdsibered/jsp/r...uzeeFHOOg%3D%3D

Search came up 145k miles + HKD 4731 tax for dates in Nov. By the way, CX availablility sucks over the weekend. Usually award flights only available in middle of the week

ideally transit in Doha would be great for European destination. But you need to factor in the surcharges to fly on Qatar as i believe it's quite hefty compared to CX.

Thanks for the advice.
I have called the enrich hotline to check for the availability of JAL and AA, to my surprise both also no availability.
It sounds like they are rejecting OW redemption by simply saying no availability.

Anyone have experience redeeming OW from Enrich?
*
Have you checked JAL availability using their FF program Mileage Bank? If flight does not appear on their own FFP, then it's unlikely that you can get flight redemption on enrich. If it's available, you MAY be able to redeem the flight on enrich. Note down the flight date and flight number and give the enrich agent the specific details.

Same applies with AA. Alternatively, you can try using British Airways Avios system to check as they cover most OW FFPs.

Yes. JAL.
But I don't whether OW single carrier allows stopover or not.
JAL (KUL-NRT) stopover then (NRT-LAX).

If allow, then great!
Anyone has experience on this?
*
if using enrich miles, cannot add stopover for OW single carrier redemption already. Anything more than 24 hour will count as separate segment.

Concluding my flight from KUL - HKG - AKL - HKG - KUL soon on CX. No doubt hands down Pier HKG is one of the top lounges in the world (ME3 aside). Just blows others out of the water. Tried Qantas, Koru NZ, both are nicely designed but just cannot compare with Pier.

Sad to say that CX a350 is in bad shape. I had BLR-D and BLR-B on both flight and they show real signs of wear and tear that's not supposed to happen to such a new plane. Noticed that alot of seats have a broken side panel just beside the movable armrest. My seat also had problem with the power plug and control device.

they are only doing the first 3 craft that has the most serious wear and tear. my return flight was with the 4th plane which they are not scheduling any maintenance yet. probably gonna take awhile before they can refit all the damaged seats..

practically have to rip out the whole business class seat and reinstall back new ones... the seats motor also is so loud and jerky...

Krisflyer now does not have surcharge for redemption. however, do check availability.

asiamiles DO start to charge fuel surcharge for some redemptions AFAIK. I do know that UK airport is crazy expensive to fly out from, hence the high surcharge you see on return flights.

what you can do is, do a dummy search on this two award site (register a member) and compare both points and fees before doing the points transfer.

Depends on what u like. CX is good for doing a stopover in hong kong, spend a few days there shopping and eating. Same can be done with SQ.

If this is your first J class redemption, i highly recommend CX so that can enjoy a few days in hong kong, and try out the Pier in hkg airport.

which enrich miles credit card are you referring to?

If it's like HLB Mach Signature, no need to register, all transaction automatically converted to Enrich.

For Mach VI, Signature, u need to provide to them your enrich account number when applying the card so that they can credit the points to you automatically. if not, you'll burn your points.

also there are limitation on points earning as per Kit615 said. Need to take note on the minor t&c.

Jtl, the surcharge for LHR is expensive due to the Passenger Departure Charge imposed by Heathrow for pax flying out of London. Alternatively, you can do a trip to Paris and fly out from CDG. much cheaper.

Asiamiles use a distance chart to calculate amount of points required. Use http://www.webflyer.com/travel/mileage_calculator/ to calculate the actual distance travelled by keying in all the transit point to get the exact range.

Ok, I have tried to set up dummy flights on Asia Miles. An interesting point to note is that the redemption points on J class to both LHR and YVR are exactly the same despite the rather large difference in distance. Also, the surchages for YVR are way cheaper than LHR.

If that is the case, I might as well use my points for my YVR trip and just pay for my LHR trip right?
*
Try Krisflyer as i'm seeing cheaper redemption rates & lower fees as compared to Asiamiles CX. you can use other star alliance carriers too if SQ schedule is not available. EVA or Lufthansa are two other alternatives. Problem is u need to search the availability yourself and call in to krisflyer for redemption.

QUOTE(imyschong @ May 17 2017, 04:17 PM)
They did not request enrich account number from me when I apply for the card, so is it too late to give them the account number? and how to give them?

If principle card holder can use the air miles to purchase flight ticket for others? or only the card holder?
*
chk with HLB cos they may have created an enrich account for you. It's a requirement to have an enrich account number linked when the card is approved. Most likely they've created one new acc for you.

QUOTE(digidigi @ May 17 2017, 04:40 PM)
If Eva site show award available doesn't means it will available with krisflyer rite?
*
Correct. Krisflyer is stingy with releasing awards, hence other *A carrier reciprocate. However, u can use the flight number, date and time to feed to SQ customer service so that they can check easier. By doing abit of homework, you increase the chance of getting the seats.

QUOTE(imyschong @ May 17 2017, 05:10 PM)
Meaning that I can't buy ticket for my family by using the airmiles? Only for myself?
*
The enrich account holder can redeem flight for anyone. It has nothing to do anymore with the HLB as the points are transferred automatically every month. If cards like MBB 2CP, only principle card holder can request transfer of miles to his/her FFP account (they now check names to make sure it's the same as principle card holder).
