QUOTE(noslek @ May 19 2019, 03:41 PM) That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve never waitlisted as I don’t like the feeling of uncertainty. So my question to those who’s willing to be waitlisted: how do you deal with this uncertainty? And what’s your back up plan if waitlist doesn’t clear? If my waitlist doesn’t clear I will buy a ticket and get to where I want.

QUOTE(noslek @ Jun 14 2019, 06:39 PM) Moved this topic over to this thread as I thought this is more appropriate here: Agree! BAEC is much easier to maintain. I in the midst of planning my next year’s BA sectors. Usually how much is your SIN-SYD-MEL? I’ve been flying to Europe these past two years. Longggggg journey indeed and one year I booked PEY to make things more bearable. PS: It’s nice to see another BAEC here! The fares are a bit on the higher side compared to getting to MEL from KUL on MH, the cheapest I got was around RM2600 ex SIN. But they average out around RM3000+. The SYD-MEL portion will be operated on QF metal just make sure you have the BA number on it and you're all set.

QUOTE(noslek @ Jun 14 2019, 07:08 PM) Thanks for sharing! That’s about the price I’ve seen. I’m more interested in Europe compared to Aussie, so for this price chances are I’ll be heading to Europe instead, even if it’s only over a long weekend. Yes crazy things I do for this haha... Yeah I agree. The price is more or less the same if to Europe but just in case you’d pressed for time. I just came back from a trip to MAD over the long weekend last month for the qualifying sectors, got around 20k + avios and an op up to WT+ on the way back so it’s all fun! QUOTE(noslek @ Jul 1 2019, 12:07 PM) Actually lounge is not the last place to add/change FFP. You can also do add/change FFP at the departure gate. And if you really fly without a FFP, can always do a retro claim with airline via website or call. I’ve done one FFP during check in (for benefits) then switching to another one at the gate (for miles accrual) in Hong Kong. Does not work everywhere though This post has been edited by db07mufan: Jul 1 2019, 01:45 PM

QUOTE(charlesj @ Oct 10 2019, 10:26 AM) As mentioned by digi above. Just avoid A330, the rest aren't too bad. If possible, avoid old A350 too, but this is the most common aircraft for SIA, and the only J class I ever flew on SIA. Will be testing on new A380 suite and 777 F soon How old is the old a350 exactly. They’re all pretty new I thought .

QUOTE(charlesj @ Oct 11 2019, 11:52 AM) Actually not really an "old" A350... For long haul flight with A350, all will be under 2013 J seating for business class, where your leg has to squeeze into the tiny hole and sleep diagonally. The "new" A350 is a regional flight, with 2018 RJ seats (same as new 787 flight), where based on review, is a much better product compare to former. Hopefully got chance to fly on that soon. Ah got it! Understood. QUOTE(digidigi @ Oct 11 2019, 11:55 AM) Regional business seat leg room is better but the seat more narrow, is like sauna while I fall asleep. Long haul 2013J is good if u can get a bulkhead seat Design wise both is quite mordern, perhaps the one strike the balance btw two is the 2017J on new a380 which I yet to try I've tried the J on the new A380, I got the bulkhead which turns into a 'double bed'. The seat itself is fine but I'm not too fond of J on SQ.

QUOTE(charlesj @ Oct 16 2019, 03:12 PM) Saw Zurich in Saver a few times but never book. London yes, so far never encounter, but plenty for old A380. Sydney also surprisingly hard to get the new A380. I’ve got cleared waitlisted 2 days before for SYD on the new suite. Haven’t seen where you can redeem it outright SAVERS.

QUOTE(msa9696 @ Oct 17 2019, 01:43 AM) 2 days before? Long ago? Now 2 weeks don't get will be auto removed from waitlist Not too long ago, the seat was waitlisted prior to the implementation of the 2 weeks rule.

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Oct 22 2019, 12:36 PM) Calling Asiamiles MY toll-free hotline is way better than asking their online chat for help/clarification. Finally did redemption for my trip next year I can imagine the taxes of that itinerary🤯

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Oct 23 2019, 05:49 PM) Yes, including many other airlines as well. Also can make online redemption if your itinerary is not too complex For my trip - 135k miles under OneWorld Multi-carrier Award. Surcharges and taxes total is HKD6822/pax (I searched all the legs in one-way also come up to HKD5413). You can actually check the miles required using the Multi-City tab at https://www.asiamiles.com/en/afr.htmlIf individual one-way, the miles are 70k for KUL-DOH-BUD, 61k (devalued from 50k) for PRG-DOH-MLE, and 30k for MLE-CMB-KUL. For Asiamiles, there are 2 choices - QR via Doha, or BA via London - both require 70k miles one-way on Business. For Krisflyers, you can fly out KL on their partner (Turkish Airlines) - one-way is about 92k miles + about RM1k in taxes WOW

QUOTE(icemanfx @ Jun 18 2020, 02:22 PM) i visited f qf lounge at syd/mel, ba at lhr, cx at hkg, qr at doh and mh at kul. quality and selection of foods, drinks, shower room, reading materials, etc at kul is inferior to lhr and hkg. however, mh/kul f lounge is better than qr ow/emerald lounge at doh. I actually quite like the MH F Lounge in KL after the renovation. It's a very cosy and quiet place to relax for most parts of the day. The crowd comes in late evening with the Australia / UK / Japan departures where there are a lot of Emeralds. My only complain is the food, the menu has not changed for like years. That being said, I've been to most of the oneworld F Lounges with the exception of Al Safwa, The Concorde Rooms, and Qantas' First Lounge in London, the one's I've been to did not disappoint. My highlights would definitely be the Qantas F Lounges in SYD;LAX;and SIN. The newly renovated JAL F Lounge in Narita is EXCELLENT as well. Hopefully when The Private Room is reopened, it will be on par if not better. SQ's Lounge experience is unfortunately a weakpoint on a otherwise very stellar product. QUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 18 2020, 05:37 PM) But we all have to wait for the skies to open fully, post COVID... having said that, I'm sure most of our frequent flier privileges have been extended by the respective airlines. SQ automatically extended my PPS membership by another year - there was no way I could have flown the required miles due to COVID. Most of the major players have some sort of status extension with the latest being British Airways (phew!).

QUOTE(icemanfx @ Jun 18 2020, 10:24 PM) MH f lounge at kul dinning menu was revised a few years ago. Previous menu had lobster, ribeye steak. tigerrThat ribeye felt a bit weird. But that was gone like maybe 2-3 years ago? The current menu of pasta, japanese hamburger, assam fish, is on rotation for everyday for the past two years at least. Surely they could have change the menu at least a few times in a year. This post has been edited by db07mufan: Jun 18 2020, 10:38 PM

QUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 18 2020, 10:25 PM) I agree with SQ’s business class at Silver Kris - it’s a dated product. The First Class and Private Room are somewhat better, IMHO anyway. CX’s lounges are also quite good, especially their noodle bar. The Private Room's food is actually pretty good, topped off with some nice Dom. It's just a bit too dated and snooty whereas the rest of the world seems to be taking a more modern contemporary approach.

QUOTE(hksgmy @ Jun 19 2020, 08:40 AM) Indeed you are correct. Sorry I wasn’t clear in my earlier post - I meant to say that to access the toilets, one would have to exit TPR and use the ones at the First Class lounge. The facilities are the one and the same - but they do provide better quality toothbrushes in their little open/shut cases which the Business Class folks don’t get. Hahaha The toothbrush in that open shut case is very good indeed!! Shower rooms I think no one does it like Cathay Pacific’s in Hong Kong. The shower rooms in SIN’s QF Flounge is pretty neat too. I’m a sucker for good lounge showers 🥰 This post has been edited by db07mufan: Jun 19 2020, 11:27 AM
