for HSBC VS,

10X reward points on overseas hotel room and dining spend (capped RM2000 per month)
8X reward points at MV and The Gardens Mall (capped RM1500)
5X reward points for airlines, local dining and hotels and 30 plus mall (capped RM1500 together with 8X reward)
1x for other retails

the airmiles exchange is 3000 points for 1000 airmiles (enrich, asia miles and ktisflyer).

Let's say u spend

RM2000 for your oversea hotel stay, u will get 2000*10 = 20,000 reward points, u can convert to about 6000++ miles

For insurance, you pay RM3000 premium, u can convert it to 1000 miles.

Alliance only for Enrich miles.

But you gotta diligently redeem the airmiles early of the month...Otherwise, be prepared to receive SMS that mentions "Your Airmiles Conversion request was not processed as the monthly maximum has reached. T&C apply."

Having said that, if you are a very discipline person that monitor your expenses meticulously then this is definitely your go-to card.

Whoa...what sort of card requires monthly redemptions of reward points? Unless it is done automatically, I think this is ridiculous. Almost like a way to scam their customers. What if I wanted to accumulate the points for something else aside from airmiles? Not possible?

for HSBC VS, the reward points is really worth for airmiles conversion, and other redemption is just so so. No problem to redeem manually, I do it every 1st day of the month. biggrin.gif

What I meant is why wouldn't they allow me to accumulate the points for a bigger item redemption..like a vaccum cleaner for instance? I find that really strange. Or am I missing something here? rclxub.gif

Yes, u can use your reward points to redeem other items such as electronic gadgets, kitchenware, fashion, home and living items etc. without any restriction as long as your credit card account have the points. What I want to share is the reward points earn from VS card is best to convert airmiles. laugh.gif

Yes I get that the airmiles conversion is best option but how does the bank know I want to convert to airmiles? Why can't I do it after 1 year? I just don't get why we are forced to convert at the begining of every month. Makes no sense to me lah

When u log into your online banking account, there is a special box for VS airmiles redemption. Example for VS, 3000 reward points for 1000 EM, other card needs 10000++ reward points for 1000 EM etc.

I booked via booking.com ... I swipe my card when I reach hotel, no issue.
Regarding Agoda booking (I found out they always have last minutes promotion), so I use maybank amex to make payment, so I have no comment.

If paid online it doesn't count, be very careful with this card, lots of T&C you have to take note. Like some mentioned, track carefully so as not to overspend beyond the limit or spending on unqualitified items (1x point)

Dear Sifus,

Need your advise on something. I have been using Maybank 2 premier card for over a year now and never converted the points to miles yet but now I feel like I want to use the points for a trip I plan to make. But I am not sure whether I should convert to Enrich, Kris or AsiaMiles.
I plan to travel to Nuremberg, Germany in the next few months so I am not sure how I can use the miles to get this ticket. Mas do not fly to Germany so I am not sure if I should convert to Enrich. But then again I am not sure how the whole partner airlines work and how to redeem.
After checking with Skyscanner, I can see that the best value tickets would be using one of these airlines - KLM, Turkish, Swiss and Lufthansa.
1. Given my destination, which conversion would be best for me? Enrich, Kris or AsiaMiles?
2. Whats the best way to make the decision on which airline to take?
Sorry for the long question and message.

KLM - partner of Malaysia Airlines

Turkish, Swiss & Lufthansa are under Star Alliance, you can redeem via Krisflyer (Singapore Airlines)

Asia Miles - Any airlines under One World alliance

Enrich Miles has undergone some horrible devaluation thus personally it is not worth it anymore. But some people would still prefer that because of convenient (flying out direct from KUL)

Turkish & KLM do fly out from KUL (transit Istanbul / Amsterdam), Swiss and Lufthansa i believe only possible from Singapore.
