@ bose: I'll just lay out the control schemes for ya..

NES: Wiimote, Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube
SNES: Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube
Sega Mega Drive: Wiimote, Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube
Turbografx-16: Wiimote, Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube
Nintendo 64: Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube
Neo-Geo: Most likely Wiimote+Classic, Gamecube.

As you can see, Gamecube controllers works on [mostly] all VC titles, the only problem is the layout. I doubt you'll be able to play Street Fighter II properly with the GC controller, but with the Classic, is more akin to the classic SNES controller, where you have your usual 4-face button, and 2-shoulder buttons.

And oh, I got Sin & Punishment yesterday.. and all I can say, it's friggin' great If you're a rail-shooter fan, maybe you like a little shoot-em'-up, maybe something Rez-like.. this is a solid title.

And I skipped Mario 2.. Takut my S.O. cannot play, so I got Ganbare Goemon for the SNES, also known as Legend of the Mystical Ninja!.. Sports one of the best titles for the SNES, and also one hilarious 2-player co-op session

Plans? I plan to get more games, and you're right, the virtual console has SO MANY games.. I thought the Wii was in drought Super Metroid.. Paper Mario.. Yoshi's Island.. Left back 1400 points

Altho' I haven't heard of any side-effects of modded consoles buying VC games.

Yeah, either get point cards(like reload), or use credit card and purchase from the Shop Channel itself..

At least with Japan set you can download Super Mario Picross

Point Cards rare in M'sia.. Maybe some retailers have like Gamers Hideout..

Easier way to get points is by going into the Shop Channel through the Wii.. Go in, load everything.. Once reach main screen, press "Start Shopping".. Once that done, you can see a few buttons can click.. Click on "Add Points".. or the points itself(since you never buy before, should be 0 points).. Then they will ask how you want to reload.. Click "Redeem by point card", or "Use credit card".. You have the choice of using Visa, or Mastercard, select the amount of points you want to buy(USD10=1000pts, USD20=2000pts.. etc. etc.) .. Enter credit card number and etc. etc.. Accept, then you have points!

But since you are using JP set, the menu may have different language, so if you are confused to which menu is to reload points, just click on the points itself (the 0 points on the bottom of screen).

Game prices are as follows:
NES: 400-500
Sega Mega Drive: 400-700
SNES: 800-1000
Turbografx-16: 400-700
Nintendo 64: 1000(usually)- 1000+
Neo-Geo: ????

As explained:

USD10 (RM35) = 1000 pts .. Respectively, USD50 (RM175) = 5000 pts.

The reason why I put N64 games "1000(usually)-1000+" is because the release of Sin and Punishment.. It sold for 1200 pts, the extra 200 is because they had to hire people to translate the menu.. Thus, extra USD2.

Usually N64 games are sold for 1000 pts. Check it out.

And again, 100 pts = 1USD = RM3.5 .. You can only buy in 1000pts, 2000pts, 3000pts, 4000pts, and 5000pts.

Sadly, all downloaded VC games are stored onto the internal memory of the Wii.. which is 512mb. Very little if you're a frequent downloader of VC games.

But VC games can be transfered to SD card, just in-case you need to remove the game(or channel) temporarily, then, you can copy it back onto the Wii.. So you don't have to re-download it all over again.

Deleting the game/channel won't remove it permanently off the list, it will be stored in an invisible profile from your Wii, notifying Nintendo that you had already downloaded the game.

Also, VC games are non-transferable to other consoles.

Added on October 3, 2007, 1:16 pmOops, added.. Games are rather small.. NES games can be a few KB(or blocks), but games like Sin & Punishment(N64) was using 32mb.. Can't recall how many blocks it took.. 150-200 blocks?

Yes, you can play japanese Gamecube games on your Japanese Wii.

Region-lock still exists, just remember that. Dunno if modded Wii will bypass or not.. Maybe won't.

I'm using US..

Legally speaking, getting a Jap Wii means you can only play Japanese games.

Not so worth it after all eh?

Again, legally speaking.. US Wii can only play US games, while JP Wii can only play JP Games..

Same applies to other regions, Europe PAL Wii can only play EUROPE PAL games, and not Australian PAL games(IINM).

So far I've not heard of any region-free games for Wii.
