yup, you can take the advice from gundam. it is very very hard to get Pal games here.
So, its either you sell it there and get a new US one here, or you could get it modded. Sadly. here's what I did with GH Metallica. Popped the disc in, watched the mocap videos. Weep and counted the profits I got selling them. |

Better buy lots of games before coming back seriously. I don't understand why most UK/Australian seller don't want to ship to Malaysia.

The repercussion would be through updates. updating with the wrong firmware can get you into trouble. That's my problem that I see.

I usually buy from this seller located in UK, but quote their price at AUD. I'll send the games to my wife in Australia and get them when we meet later. Shipping is AUD9 per game, no combine shipping. What I can tell you is, it's the cheapest I can find from all the world, even after shipping. A copy of MAdworld would be AUD55 shipped, even kyo can't match that

Hmm... noticed this conversation re PAL games... I do have some for sale - http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/983846#
For GC PAL games, bought them on my holiday trip to UK several years back... For the Wii game, well.. it came with my Wii and I couldn't change it (on the bright side, the publisher sent me two games without me needing to pay for them :-) Ubisoft rocks!) I've also got Wii Freeloader which according to your Wii version (3.4 I think), should still work fine (4.0 is reported to 'break' Freeloader) and should solve most of your gaming problems. |

I'm pretty sure the Freeloader was disabled on 3.2u, not 4.0, because I remember happened not too long after SSBB release

Of which Freeloader was using it sign their discs. If I may recommend, try going the Home Brew path, if you're not for playing Pirated games. Installing Home Brew Channel and using Gecko OS will enable Region Free gaming with better compatibility, and more importantly its upgradeable so you're not stuck when a Firmware update might break it as what happened to Freeloader. Homebrew I've heard of... but homebrew with Gecko OS?
It's so sad that I want to play Fatal Frame and Bleach:Versus Crusade but they're Japanese only. Argh. I don't think I want Bleach:Versus Crusade for the US version, because the voices might be in English and that takes out half the fun (For me) >_> |

I don't think I want Bleach:Versus Crusade for the US version, because the voices might be in English and that takes out half the fun (For me) >_> and Gecko OS is a Home Brew program that runs on the wii. Gecko OS has a number of abilities, such as Ocarina(Cheats ala Gameshark), bypasses disks updates with conditions, and of course Region Free. But it still doesn't enables you to play backups, so its not a tool to enable piracy. Its a legitimate homebrew that enhances the Wii~! That's a simple enough explanation, if you still don't get it... Google is there for you to find out more... |

Hi.
I'm currently in China right now. My friend is looking for Wii for her brother. We asked few shops here, they quoted RMB1530 (about RM800). Not sure about the package though. Is it worth it to buy here? (considering the after-sales service etc...) |

if you are unsure if the Wii is a modified version or not, best to just stick to buying at Malaysia instead. You might see missing channels of the Wii, or you might get a refurbished one.

QUOTE(Huey_nee @ Apr 26 2009, 04:29 PM) Hi. No matter what kind of Wii the shop is selling you, UNLESS you or someone close to you know the Wii inside out that you/them can repair/service it when you're back in Malaysia when its in warranty.I'm currently in China right now. My friend is looking for Wii for her brother. We asked few shops here, they quoted RMB1530 (about RM800). Not sure about the package though. Is it worth it to buy here? (considering the after-sales service etc...) You'll end up having fun searching for shops/people when it gives you problems, no matter how serious it is or not. But then, there's also very good guys giving good services around the forum for our beloved consoles even if you had bought it from China. |

The one you mentioned is a modified version of the console, meaning that the insides of the Wii has been tampered with (or the firmware itself has been).
