Just converted from Maxis 10Mbps to Time 100Mbps line. Highly recommended for users of Sharp UE630X to get Time if your area is available. For aboit the same price as Maxis 10Mbps I got 98-100Mbps download and upload speed.

Kodi which used to jerk now streams effortlessly. Netflix also will always run at 4k mode where movie permits. YouTube also same thing.

just curious...

a fren was telling me last week that this time 100mbps is 100mbps only at certain designated times of the day/night, min is 30mbps. and to get 100mbps min, need to get 300mbps line.

any truth in that?

I tested around 3pm 100Mbps download and upload. Don't have time to test whole day as I'm working.

maybe it's been there for some time but i just noticed there is a new app in playstore called VIKI TV.

it is for movies and tv dramas: chinese-korean-japanese-taiwanese and many other countries.

with ENG subs.

the free ones are very limited, somewhat old, 480p, very stable, easy navigation.

but seems if u pay rm20 pm, u get hd for some of them, a bigger selection.

try it!

Btw when playing using netflix there is sound coming from my soundbar, all of my media files are played using Kodi and there is no sound coming out from the soundbar, anyone can help? Currently using 3.5mm plug to output sound from TV to the soundbar

something i don't follow - "use the tv optical output to sound bar with 3.5mm plug"?

u r using a toslink->3.5mm convertor?

if soundbar has toslink input, why not use a full toslink?

just tv toslink ->soundbar toslink.

also, toslink is DIGITAL, not PCM.

1. QMedia4 <---> TV ( Optical/Toslink ), no sound when playing files using Kodi/Youtube but when using netflix to play the 4k content there is sound, normal full HD content no sound

I am currently using the 3.5mm stereo plug to output sound from TV to my soundbar ohmy.gif

Or the TV Toslink output only can output sound using the built in media player? sweat.gif

*Qmedia4 cannot decode DTS, the manual already stated need to set the Toslink output to PCM in order to get sound

At this point, it's even more confusing.. Seems like either or both devices aren't that smart or compatible to begin with (given that there are no hardware defects or cable issue).. I understand there are certain limitations when it comes to non-HDMI outputs, however, it's 2016 and it's unacceptable for one to have to direct sound from a TV's headphone jack (using a converter or whatever) to a toslink port on a soundbar.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Kodi does software decoding of HD audio and I believe the YouTube app outputs as stereo. I suggest you reconnect both TV and soundbar via toslink and fiddle with their audio settings..

so, u mean u tried toslink, didn't work very well. now using convertor, correct?

i do not know about soundbars but if it cannot handle dts, will be problematic.

how r u doing usb playback? using tv media player or kodi player?

i have used the toslink with an old avr.
using tv player-usb, can get dts.
using kodi player-usb, only pcm.
there is audio for all of them - netflix, kodi, usb playback, whatever.

Kodi no sound at all using optical connection, i can only use the stereo output ( 3.5mm type )

Kodi player - streaming from NAS, no sound ( using TV speaker is working fine but soundbar no sound )
Have not tried TV player, the TV player able to stream from NAS? All my movies are stored inside my NAS

Any settings needed at Kodi? maybe can share your settings here notworthy.gif

in summary, i think yr soundbar is the issue - limited capability.
this happens when it is an old model cannot cope with the newer signals.

u can try 2 things besides using kodi player:

1. tv player can stream, just u need to set it up, a little clumsy.
2. install es file explorer (in playstore), stream yr NAS with it - try the diff networking options.

You are bitstreaming to your AVR using optical? Maybe bit streaming no problem but when set to PCM there is issue as my soundbar doesn't decode DTS sweat.gif

AVR detect auto, no need to set anything.

if dts, it will dts; if dd, it will do dd; if lpcm, it will do lpcm.

get an avr+ speakers, all yr problems solved. biggrin.gif

one last thing u can try on kodi... go to audio, play around with the db amplification; play around with all available options.

AVR+speakers not an option cos just bought this soundbar for RM1899 cry.gif , the sound is very good even when using analog input but i wanna use optical input to see the improvement.. Will play with ES file explorer and the kodi settings when I get home later.

Yup this soundbar got no HDMI nor dts/dd, should have spent another 1k to get Yamaha YSP-2500 instead doh.gif

Man... no offense, but spending close to RM2K and can't even handle DTS in today's age, was a bad decision... There are 5.1 Home Theaters that come standard with HDMI inputs (minimum 2) and can handle DD, Dolby True HD, core DTS, DTS-HD, etc, which costs the same or even cheaper... Besides aesthetics, which to me is of a far lower priority, where sound is concerned.. I never did fancy soundbars and have considered them as overpriced.. Unfortunately, the purchase has been done... I'd advice, if you can't find an acceptable workaround on this... Sell off the soundbar and cut your losses... Get an entry-level AVR + speakers or a branded HT.. Much better performance.
