I'm still researching on a good media box for this TV, so until then, have to make do with the built-in USB playback.
Just downloaded some 40-60Gb 4K movies to play on this TV, but if the TV can't read the HDD, will have to stick to 720/1080p movies for the time being

TV makers make displays for video - they should, focus on that.
they should not and will not go fully into what the dunes, nvidia shields and android box makers do.
nor should they try to great audio to compete with the onkyos and yamahas.
they have smart features, playback but these are bonuses for light use.
the playback and audio capabilities are usually low.
the usb playback player of this tv is only as good as the free MX player at best.

the tv can deliver much better video if u use a good media player.
it can handle 4:4:4 sampling, 2160p, 60fps, even 10 bit although it is not rated HDR.
if u r going to collect 40-66gb videos, u definitely want to get a good player, not play with tv.
what box... there r many threads, can start reading.
i can surely comment on this.

I usually cut the power totally because few other equipments also connected to the extension plug with hope to save some electricity.

Yes, I noticed the delays as my android box takes around 10~20 secs to sync the correct time right after wifi/internet is connected.
But my TV just sits there pretty showing 8.00am and counting with date 1/1/2015 eventhough wifi/internet is connected, after waiting many minutes nothing change...

When the time is incorrect, it affects the apps such as youtube, playstore, kodi causing errors...

my brother is using UE630X and he is facing a lot of limitation with the USB port especially on the size of the supported drive.

the best way for you to test out 4k video is to use 4k bluray or stream netflix. So far the built in netflix is able to stream 4k video without any problem but the wifi is giving a lot of problem. Sometimes when its disconnected from the router, it is not able to reconnect and the router and TV needs to be reboot in order to reconnect. the rest of the laptop n mobile phone does not have this connection issue with the router so the fault should be on the TV.

One of the best TV for smart features r LG tvs. I am accessing all my videos i downloaded in my computer by file sharing and the TV is able to play BDMV files as well. if you wish to share the entire hdd drive, just install the LG file sharing software to the computer and you can select anything you wish to share to the TV from the software. Very user friendly system

Okay... I don't really get how this is a "normal" thing.. I've got no such date and time issues on either my Samsung TV or Minix box. Most nights, the whole extension plug is powered off and when powered up the next day or days even, it immediately shows the exact date and time. Basically like a PC or mobile device.

Your bro tv has something not right about the network settings or a lousy router.

I hv used the tv for almost 2 yrs on wifi, no problem.

Of course, youtube 4k netflix 4k works fine in a giogle androidtv.

probably is the faulty of the router but other devices seems to be able to connect to the router without any problem. this is the Unifi cheapo router so cant really expect much from it. since it wasn't giving any problem to mobile phone or laptop connection, my brother doesnt want to change the router.

your tv is normal, nothing wrong.

i have seen this green thingy with some other kodi addons before.
exodus is a "damaged" addon at this time.
i suggest u install and use COVENANT addon instead.

crunchyroll app from playstore does not work well, some incompatibility.
and yes, i hv seen that before.

if youtube, netflix and all rest work fine, u know the problem is not with the tv.

u can sideload many other apps (not found in tv playstore) after first installing es file explorer from playstore.
install mx player as well as it is required for some apps.
i will recommend u try terrarium tv (movies/tv shows), new cloudtv (eng + chinese live tv) and mobdro (eng live tv).
and if u hv id/pw for iflix, hypptv everywhere, astrogo, u can install them, they work fine.

where to find these apps or apk's?
if u know androids enough it is easy; if new, u need to read, search, get and try them.

take note there will also be certain apps that the androidtv will not install at all, gets blocked.
because the security feature is at work, will stop any suspected malicious app from getting in to cause trouble.

I can't get astro go or njoi now to work with my sharp tv, crash at start of the app...

i hv not used astrogo for some time now.

just tried it... yes, seems astrogo newer versions incl 8.1.60 do not work anymore.

try an old one, 8.0.4.2, should work.

there isn't much info u can get what works and what doesn't for this androidtv as most androids work on generic android, not androidtv.

androidtv is found in sharp-sony-philips 4k tv, nvidia shield and mibox int'l boxes.

Can i install KODI on Sharp Android TV ? Any problem with buffering when playback ?

Thinking to get either Sony 55" 7000D model or Sharp 55" 630X.

ue630x comes in 50, 58 and 65". no 55.

kodi works fine on it but u must do the settings right.

"playback"... kodi (and otther apps) online streams are fine; local tv usb playback is poor - cannot read certain HDD brands, types, formats.

that sony uses same androidtv, i believe, should work the same for all android apps.

Just for sharing regarding the date/time issue not auto sync that I encountered, Sharp service team came to test and they conclude that my internet/router is the culprit because they use wifi from their phone everything sync fine...

After some digging in the my Tplink Archer C1200 router settings, I changed the time server option to pool.ntp from nist.gov and use LAN connection instead, walla! it sync correctly each time I turn on the tv from switching on off the wall socket
