Wait! You mention "extra rings for wife" and then you also mentioned "proposal ring or such before the actual ring is bought". So, are you married or are you not?

Nola, concern only because if you intend to use man made diamonds to propose then better not. It may not be apparent when alone but when put side to side with a real one, it's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

I just cannot imagine the humiliation if your love ones is having afternoon tea with her friends when all of a sudden, one of the friends decided to talk about the diamond ring her boyfriend used to proposed to her only.
