How do U manage Vanguard 2015?
constant asset allocation +/- XX% movements, then only trigger rebalancing?
OR the typical "once a year rebalance no matter what"?
OR something else?
*
Currently, my method is as per my earlier posting on 7.1.2016.

I am running 4 separate FSM accounts.

(a) Primary Account - already topped up to the max $. No more fresh investment. Going to use VA every quarterly and reduce the equity exposure if necessary.

(b) Secondary Account No. 1 - Same as above.

© Secondary Account No. 2 - Using RSP.

(d) Secondary Account No. 3 - Using RSP.

Hopefully it will work out.

What's your view on Eastspring Investment global emerging market fund? thanx
*
If your interest is solely for diversification because EIGEM has exposure to Russia, Brazil, India, etc. then you can consider this fund.

But speaking for myself, I am not a fan of EIGEM. I already have Ponzi 2 which has high exposure to China. EIGEM has an exposure of more than 39% in Greater China. So I see no reason to buy EIGEM. The Sharpe ratio of EIGEM is 0.03 and its performance for the past 5 years is not so good.

I know some forumers here have EIGEM in their portfolio. Well, different investors have different perspectives.

I think this is going to be brutal year. The priority here is capital preservation. Forget about making double digit return.

I consider it a bonus if I can get single digit return using FD as the benchmark.

so u will sell most of ur UT and park in CMF ?  tongue.gif

I will try and trim down my equity exposure. Park more into bond funds. The rest to put as advance payment for my housing loan or OD account.

Then...why not sell all now and park in FD? whistling.gif

I wanted to park everything in FD but I am only doing my layman Anal-ysis about how the markets will perform this year. But what if I am wrong and the markets pick up in the 3Q or 4Q? Then I will miss out on all the potential gains. tongue.gif

So I think a ratio of 50/50 in equity/bond funds is still acceptable. My current bond fund exposure is very low.

i like reading this thread. More insights to learn compared to the ASB/ASW thread.

In that thread, if any guy successfully top up 1k into their account, 10 postings asking which bank/branch, which counter, what time, 1 trial or multiple trials, and another 10 postings congrat the guy well done, and why so lucky.

The quality of that thread very low.

Your statement brought a smile to my face.

It reminds me of aunties buying fish at the market. One aunty managed to buy a fish at a cheap price. The other aunties will crowd around her and say "Wah, your fish is so fresh and cheap. From which stall did you buy it from ah? rclxms.gif

I am not sure what is the meaning of EQ you are referring to bro. blush.gif

To me, all the forumers here have the IQ to become successful or are already successful investors. The fact that they invested in FSM, joined this forum and talk about asset allocation shows that they are on the right track. biggrin.gif

Speaking for myself, most of the time it is an (Emotional Intelligence) EQ problem and not an IQ problem. biggrin.gif

I agree 100% with you. I intend to buy blue chips stocks only and maybe hold some minor position in growth stocks. I have a list of stocks to buy. smile.gif I have no intention to buy penny stocks or engage in day trading. That would be madness with my limited time, knowledge and resources.

Buying stocks is not like buying unit trusts in FSM liao, where the risks are significantly lower. biggrin.gif

This is what I meant in my post yesterday. Most of the time for investors like myself it is EQ problem and not IQ problem. biggrin.gif

Tons of books have been written on the behavior and mindset of investors.

Hi Ivan, long time no see. I thought you disappeared already.

I sense some despair in your post above. Don't worry bro. We are all in the same boat. My allocation in Ponzi 2 is really heavy. Also red mah.

Just practice asset allocation and do VCA every quarterly if you have bullets. If no bullets left, then just do nothing until 1st April 2016.

Wah everyone switching left right and center to escape the burning house.

I got better idea. We all Sai Lang or show hand. Transfer everything into Malaysian small cap, RHB Asian Total Return Fund, RHB Emerging Bond and RHB Islamic Bond Fund. Maintain some fund in Global Titans.

So we transfer everything from Ponzi 2 to CIMB Small Cap. For other investors, transfer into Eastspring Small Cap, RHB Small Cap and RHB Smart Treasure.

This year end, sure ROI = 20%. Apa macam? My idea boleh pakai? smile.gif

Nothing special. By April, it would be the 2Q of the year. We should be in a better position to evaluate the markets then. For those practising quarterly VA and saving bullets, they should have saved enough bullets by April.

hmm.gif already throw all Ponzi 2?

No, no. I am still holding Ponzi 2 now. No plan to switch out yet.

My 2 cents view...what do we expect the fund manager of Ponzi 2 to do when there is a global rout? Sell off all the underlying stocks and buy bond funds and FD is it? It is not his fault that the fund is not doing well. Just let him do his job and wait for 2Q. Ponzi 2 is currently holding about 15.79% in cash (if I read the info correctly). Therefore there are opportunities for the fund manager to accumulate more shares at a lower price now.
