Just wondering, where do you guys park your emergency funds (3-6months)? CMF or FD?
*
e-FD.

CMF is liquid BUT cannot withdraw IMMEDIATELY. Can u go knock on FSM office in the dead of the night to take money out from your CMF? Cannot.

e-FD can. Uplift anytime, transfer to your current/savings, then u can access thru ATM.

CMF is my excess cash i.e. liquidity, park there to earn interest income.

Looks like alot of people are getting very tempted at the 0.5% sales charge. Don't get greedy of the 0.5%. Study a bit first before jumping in.

Guys, do bear in mind of RM4.40/USD1 factor...

Markets (esp US) may be depressed now, but so does MYR

Later if oil price recovers, MYR recovers, u may lose out a bit cos u are buying at high MYR/USD exchange rate.

Top up with care, do not show hand.

Just alcohol-impaired my 1 sen worth of opinion icon_rolleyes.gif

but now the US market is bleeding because of oil price plunged, when oil price recovers, Myr recovers, we buy at low price then the changes in exchange rate should be offset by higher titan fund price right?  hmm.gif
*
US bleeding because investors pessimistic about global growth
oil price bleeding because OPEC keep pumping AND investors pessimistic about global growth

Yeah, when optimism returns, oil will recover, markets will recover, MYR also will recover

Aiyo, more or less offsetting each other lor tongue.gif

yup, always recommended 100% in equities; since I believed UT investment is to supplement retirement income; and retirement for most readers here is still decades away.

45 years old - still got at least 20 years to work, earn, save and invest; I know the present retirement age is 60, in 10-15 years time by 2030, I think it will be pushed to 65 as people will not afford to stop work at 60. People who don't save and invest will find it even more difficult to retire... at old age with no job & no money, tough luck as we don't have welfare support.

But why you got mm funds? Part of your 'emergency fund'? Switch out from equity and parking temporary in MM, because you are trading and doing some timing?

Or because you think you have a "big" sum of money invested and too much to lose? First, try to compare it against the regular investments that will be done in the next decades. What is 50k when the final objective is 500k?

Take more risk when you can still afford to take the risk. Don't wait till it is too late to do so.

I am not sure if I made the right move, but I don't think topping up sinking ship is a great idea, there is RSP for my ponzi 2, which I realized late

(also missed 0.5% SC)

I have a suggestion for the excel file update:

For PRS purchases, we do it mainly because of tax relief. Can we have a transaction type that could cater for the tax relief benefit so get a better picture of the IRR including the tax relief?

at the moment I do it manually by killing the excel formula for the acquired units and reflect the transaction amount net of tax relief.

Should we ask our excel master to add a transaction type to reflect the tax relief?  thumbup.gif
