If your interest is solely for diversification because EIGEM has exposure to Russia, Brazil, India, etc. then you can consider this fund.

But speaking for myself, I am not a fan of EIGEM. I already have Ponzi 2 which has high exposure to China. EIGEM has an exposure of more than 39% in Greater China. So I see no reason to buy EIGEM. The Sharpe ratio of EIGEM is 0.03 and its performance for the past 5 years is not so good.

I know some forumers here have EIGEM in their portfolio. Well, different investors have different perspectives.

Quality of posts here nowadays is really different from what they used to be. I remember few years back (i.e. 2012) we get lots of distribution questions etc. Now it's more like a sharing session.

So, is it a good thing or bad thing?

I think this is going to be brutal year. The priority here is capital preservation. Forget about making double digit return.

I consider it a bonus if I can get single digit return using FD as the benchmark.

i like reading this thread. More insights to learn compared to the ASB/ASW thread.

In that thread, if any guy successfully top up 1k into their account, 10 postings asking which bank/branch, which counter, what time, 1 trial or multiple trials, and another 10 postings congrat the guy well done, and why so lucky.

The quality of that thread very low.

story time...may not be useful.
On 4 Jan morning, i sold off HSAO and H Jpn Growth funds...direct from Hw office.
on 11 Jan i got the proceed for sales of HSAO banked into my a/c.
(7 days)
The proceed of HJGF is till not in today. (already 8 days & counting)

How many days does FSM need to do it?

Checkers players VS Chess players - of courselar here more oomph..
Over there only "fixed income" and main tikam (can get/cannot get)
Here, asset allocation lar,
diversification via time, assets sub-assets lar,
fear vs greed check & controls (or leveraging on those) lar,
etc. laugh.gif

wow that is "FAST".
guess that is why FSM is the leader in this online thing.
btw, the switching that i did on Sat morning can only be done on 11 Jan...and the Buy date is 14 Jan.
with 20% from HW + 20% from FSM of portfolio value "FLOATING" between sales and switches....
how the mkts performs these few days got not much impact on my portfolio performance.
Mkt down i see "gian" only..... doh.gif

Ahem, the asset allocation within the fund is 75% or more in equity ok...
But yes, not much difference with fund you go with in terms of returns

Even after multiple reminders most still think it's FD equivalent and capital guaranteed

heheh - that's the thing
apa asset allocashun?
they treat it as Fixed Income until/if it explodes
thus, they don't bother thinking their moves/plan as detailed/much (thus no fun in the thread)

reminds me of the latest snake kisser-tourist tongue.gif,
thinking the snake is docile/trained & will not bite but... kaka happens

laugh.gif laugh.gif lol ~ for ASM alike, the deposit basically depends heavily on time and luck, and whether the officer willing to spare another 10 mins helping u clicking the button or not, return basically considered known and around the range. unlike funds u have to know more micro and macro variables before determining.

Those who don't know will say it is due to random luck;

Those who know will use probability and statistic to his advantage and make luck come to him / her.
