QUOTE(quintesson @ Dec 28 2008, 02:35 AM)
the recognition of the mba cert. depends heavily on the U that you take, is it? are the exam set by a mba board or a professional body (standardise for all mba exam) or by individual U (different set of questions for each U)?
in terms of learning scope which is better a degree or a mba, level aside?
as far as i understand mba is for post graduate that means you are just putting some icing on a cake not a very big deal is it to get a mba? a degree is more than sufficient for working environment + you have more path to choose, can anyone enlighten me on this?
is wawasan open universiti a good place to pursue cemba or degree course?  hmm.gif  icon_question.gif

-yes, recognition depends on the U. assessment by 'individual' U.
-learning scope? its always better to have 1st degree then mba. but it depends on which level you are right now.
-if your age is 30+ coming to 40, yes mba is a big deal..
-to do mba, find a reputable u, or dont do mba at all..
- executive mba is different from mba.. its an express mba, check with mqa does it equiv to sarjana level

4 types of people i see do mba
- young undergrad, little work experience, wants to work with big overseas firm as consultant
- people work in operations.. engineers and such.. wants to move up the corporate ladder, move to management, promotion..
- people already on top.. but feels lack of knowlege or people start questioning his credibility
- entrepreneur.. businessman, boss from inherited company.

btw, to be a director of a public listed company must have mba/master
you'll need mba if you thinking of becoming a good ceo/project director/company director/chairman/top exec someday
