I had recently completed my degree and plan to pursuit MBA. I have a few questions;

1) Is it compulsory to have working experience?
2) Can I join MBA with an engineering degree?

1) It is not compulsory as some Uni/Col do accept those without working experience. Advice is to get working experience first though.

2) Yes you can. You can weigh your options between going for a Masters in Engrr or MBA. It depends on your future goals as well. Some would argue that if you do not want to venture into your Engrr work and rather to change a diff working environment, MBA would be good and also adds up to your business skills if you ever want to open up a company or do trading or such related activities.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I plan to switch my path and venture more into business related studies. As I covered business & management module during my engineering course, I found it interesting. I wish to learn more in business rather than stuck with engineering for life. However, after searching for some MBA in UK I realized they mostly required 3 years exp in managerial level but for MSc in business related discipline do not require any experience.

I know MBA and MSc is different. But which way is better? I get a MSc now or a MBA from a not so good Uni and then decide which industry i want to venture in?  hmm.gif

I cant help you much on this as I am not an engrr or have a technical background but most of the people I know who are studying for a degree in engrr normally pursue their Masters directly (UK such) as it only takes them a full academic year to get another degree (MSc). Pure engrr life.

If you want to venture into business, go for a MBA then. If engrr, get MSc and join professional institutes or get an ir.

Any advices for UM's MBA? Considering its the best bang for bucks - in terms of it being the only double crown MBA prog for public uni @ 28k?
